Just be careful of body static when touching things like the circuit board or the chips. It can just burn them out.
Ground yourself first by touching the metal pipes in the house. Try not to where plastic sole shoes on a nylon carpet.
Dissconnect the battery and power adapter/charger before starting.

How to Disassemble an HP Pavilion DV6000

The HP Pavilion DV6000 is one in a popular line of consumer-oriented laptops produced by HP. Relatively inexpensive, the Pavilion DV6000 is a good all-around value for most users. Taking apart an HP Pavilion DV6000 is not an easy chore and if you plan to use the laptop again, it is important you know what you are doing or you have a large appetite for risk. If the above doesn’t describe you, consider taking the HP in for professional repair or upgrade. Otherwise, follow the steps below to disassemble the HP Pavilion DV6000.
18385245_1.jpg?w=200 1、Prepare a clear workstation. Turn off the laptop and remove all power components including the cord and the battery. (Turn the laptop over and you will find the tab to push and pop out the dv6000 battery.) Also remove any peripheral attachments like card readers and USB devices.
90-04208-003_original-hp-pavilion-dv8000z.jpg?w=250 2、Turn the HP Pavilion dv6000 upside down and unscrew all the screws you find. Try to keep them separate by size so you can put them back in the same spot when and if you decide to reassemble the laptop.
3、Remove the hard drive and memory modules by pulling up on the rectangular compartments. The memory is located in the central compartment (remove by spreading latches and pulling up), and in most HP models the hard drive is located to one side.
4、Remove the optical CD/DVD drive by pulling on the drive face to the left and out of the laptop. Remove the WiFi card by disconnecting the gold connectors on the antenna and pulling the card from its slot.
5、Turn the hp dv6000 back over and remove the keyboard and power panel/media touch pad. Carefully pry the power panel up with a piece of hard plastic near the power button on the left side. Be careful when pulling not to yank the power connection as you might accidentally rip out a wire. Pull back the keyboard to reveal the connections. Disconnect the connections by carefully pulling on the tabs with your thumb and forefinger. If they are tight, wiggle them back and forth while pulling on them to loosen them.
6、Remove the screws that were underneath the power pack/media touch pad. Carefully pry up the top casing and set it aside.
7、Detach all visible connections to the motherboard by pulling gently on them, wiggling them if they are stuck. Gently pull up from the right side of the motherboard and remove. The HP laptop is now fully disassembled.

Newer HP Pavilion dv6000 turned off while in use and wont turn on

1.Start your computer and see if your hear your fan noise, and cannot see anything on screen then there is problem with your power supply.

2.If you cannot hear your fan noise, and do not see anything on screen, then there is problem with your motherboard

3.if you hear fan noise and can see something on screen, then it is the issue with your hard disk (very less cases)

Mostly it would be the 2nd case that you will have to get your motherboard replaced

Computer does not boot up

Sounds like the computer cannot find your hard drive and is looking for other means to boot the machine. It first is looking for a network hard drive, then it is looking at the DVD. When that fails it is asking you to check the computer for hardware errors. Check to make sure the hard drive is seated in it's compartment. The DV6000 has an adapter that fits on the end of its SATA drive and sometimes that adapter can wiggle loose from the contacts. Just take the hard drive out and then re-seat it to the connector. In most cases it is either a loose connection or the hard drive has suffered a failure.

Laptop Pavillion DV6188eu doesn't start up

From what you are describing, the motherboard has failed. I would however like you to try a couple of things though. First remove the hard drive and see if the computer will go to the BIOS screen. If it does not, then the Motherboard has definately died. If you can get to the BIOS, then you might consider a hard drive failure, or your windows installation is so corrupt, it is causing this problem. I would however lean toward a bad MOBO....seems this model, the DV6000 and the DV9000 have serious cooling issues and tend to burn their mobos up. HP recently started updating the BIOS files for these models so the fans and processor run more efficiently to keep the laptop cooler.

2003 model, HP iPAQ 2210 PDA. Broken screen.

A replacement screen will cost $150+. You might want to get something on Ebay, like the same model with a bad power supply, or bad hard drive, and just swap out the screen. The flat ribbon cables are critical in their placement into their sockets. Make sure the ribbons are well seated, before closing the clamps.

You usually get that message when the hard drive has crashed.

Try removing the hard drive from the unit, then reseat it back into place.

Hopefully it was just dislodged a little bit.

Let me know what happens.

If you fall into this category, they pay for fixing your laptop. It doesn't have to be under warranty.
