Re: DVD player cannot read the disk
Try opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Cds and VCDs don't require as much laser power to be read correctly. Usually when you can read CDs but not DVDs, the optics are starting to fail.

If you want to know whether the region coding can be hacked on your unit then you need to state both the make AND model. If it's reading DVD's but not CD's then the reading head is faulty and must be replaced, but it's rarely an economically viable repair.
What do you mean that it sometimes doesn't work? It doesn't power on automatically? Check settings of your receiver - if it has subwoofer output enables and if low frequencies from all channels are directed also to the SUB. By default only the LFE channel (.1) of 5.1 signal input is fed to the subwoofer. So Sub will work in this case only when you listen to 5.1 signal (DVD movie for example), but for radio or stereo music, only front speakers are used. By configuring this bass redirect, you can use subwoofer for all signal types.
Sound comes out because your player is working and speakers are connected to the DVD/VCD/BlueRay/ Home theater (what ever your player is). However, you may not have connected the video cable to the TV. (I think this is the case because, usually when you connect the video cable, LG pops up a message; something like: New input connected, Do you want to enjoy it with a Yes/ No option, which you can select using the remote. If you have connected the video cable you need to select the correct input in the TV. Click the input button on your remote. That will show you the various inputs, use the right/left arrow to scroll through the active inputs. If you are connecting an HDMI cable to connect the player to TV, select it. If you use A/V cable select it. If you are using a S Video cable, select that. If a component cable is used select that as your input. Once this is done correctly you will have signal. Hope this helps. Anil
If the disk is stuck in then the is a big problem with the dvd draw, sounds to me like the motor has shorted out if there isnt any noise, you can getthe disk out manually by unplugging the Cinema system, get a paperclip , its either to the left or the right of the dvd draw is a set of gears that is explosed to allow manual retrevial of the disk, push it into either the left or right bottom of the dvd draw and if you feel a little resistance , you have found the gear, just keep pushing in until you see the dvd draw start to emerge, then gently pull it out with your fingers.
I have a Sony 46" LCD TV. I have a Direct TV HD converter box, a Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S360 Blu-Ray player, and a Pioneer DVD-Audio player connected to my Pioneer Elite Home Theater receiver. I have my Pioneer DVD-A player connected via Fiber-Optic cable. When i play a DVD or a DVD-A on my Pioneer DVD-A player, all of my speakers work fine, but when i play a dvd on my blu-ray player, all the speakers work except my subwoofer. How can I fix this problem?
