Hi dreese,

With the indulgence of wowser, sweet_rascal, johnychel and pincer...

Pls, you need to specify;
1. the model number of the Senory Science (formerly Go-Video) DVD R/RW (or is it combo with VCR);
2. the model number of the DVD player; and
3. will you be using an Ipod Nano Dock with video/audio output.

Otherwise the connection scheme below will hold true for the most basic playback and recording.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post as requested or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

First, don’t count out the possibility of having a professional service do the conversions for you. If you’ve got a relatively small quantity of things you want to transfer from VHS tape to DVD, the cost of the software and hardware components you’ll have to buy and install – and the possible headaches from getting it all to work – could seem enormous compared to the $20 to $40 per tape a local company might cost you to convert them for you. But if you’ve got dozens of tapes to convert, and/or if the process of converting them yourself seems like it’s your idea of fun, you’ll opt to acquire the tools and install them on your own system.

Creating DVDs from your home movies does require some high-end computing equipment, but most newer PCs have the necessary hardware already included. Software available for burning DVDs varies from low-end to high-end packages, and you can make the editing process as simple or complex as you want.

Sound from Onkyo CD player well and fine. Then connected the Samsung DVD HT-Z310 to Video3 (L/R audio in, V-in from L/R Audio out and V-out of Samsung) but no sound or nor video on TV? Tried to fix it...

What am I missing here?

There are a lot of models mentioned in this post. What are WE discussing?

* A Samsung HT-Z310 is a Home Theater System.

* An Onkyo TX-DS777 is higher-end AV Receiver that DOES have a Video 3 input which accepts composite video and analog audio.

* An Onkyo CD player is irrelevant to the TV sound in any scenario.

* Unnamed TV.

I don't see any path in your narrative that would carry audio TO the TV. Is there an unmentioned HDMI cable in here somewhere? I see no other audio outputs on the HTZ.

Are you running the HT-Z310 through an Onkyo receiver to somewhere (?) else?

The fewer hops and inteconnects a given signal experiences between its source and your senses, the better. I always run the BEST video from any source to the TV first; the best Audio to the BEST audio electronics. If that helps.

I have an Onkyo HT-S6100 home theater not sending picture to TV.

I just fixed mine with the same problem. Apparently, the HT-R667 and 606 receiver that comes with 6100 has a problem with the HDMI board. Onkyo wanted $500 dollars to fix it, costed me $16. Here's how to fix it. http://www.highdefforum.com/high-definition-receivers-recorders-players-tivos/121956-repairing-onkyo-htr667-aka-606-a.html

Toslink and 7.1 surround

For you to process 7.1 you need another pair of speakers. Your setup is 5.1 If you want to see some different 7.1 setups just google images of 7.1 speaker setups. Seeing it it easier than explaining it. Hope this helps

Hook up

Karri, I do not have the photo of the back, but attached is a general wiring diagram for any Audio-video Home theater system. If you have a Home Theater Receiver, then hook it up as the diagram. If not, hook it up per the comments in the diagram. This is how I hooked up my ONKYO HT system with my SONY Combo DVD recorder and my Mitsubishi TV. One thing to note on Combos, is that the VCR Tape section will not play through the High Definition connections (HDMI, and Digital Audio). You have to use the older method of Audio-Video (AV) cables or the Co-axial antenna cables. You can ask more questions if there is any confusions. Hope this helps you. Good luck.

Replacement for Onkyo DVD Player

You do not worry about the DVD player, any brand of DVD Player has compatible for that system because the output of all DVD player has already synchronizing the output impedance of the DVD to the input of your system. And you are looking for the best resolution of DVD player so you can try either sony, jvc, pioneer.and many more, but the best thing you can do is to bring the sample CD that you already know the picture and then you can try to play into the DVD that what you have selected.
