Some dvd players will simply not play dvd copies, or dvd's made on computers. If it's a store bought dvd that won't load, there is an item you can buy called a cd/dvd lens cleaner. This might help, and is a good item to have around anyway. Hope this helps.

My Emerson DVD player says Disc Error Playback feature may not be available on this disc

The error message "Disc Error Playback feature may not be available on this disc" can have a few different causes. Here are some of the most common:
  • The disc is not compatible with the DVD player. Some DVD players are only compatible with certain regions or formats of discs. If the disc you are trying to play is not compatible with your DVD player, you will get this error message.
  • The disc is damaged. If the disc is scratched, dirty, or otherwise damaged, it may not be able to be read by the DVD player.
  • The DVD player is faulty. If the DVD player is faulty, it may not be able to read discs correctly.
Here are some things you can try to fix the problem:
  • Try playing the disc in another DVD player. If the disc plays in another DVD player, then the problem is with your DVD player.
  • Clean the disc. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the disc. Be careful not to scratch the disc.
  • Format the disc. If the disc is formatted for a different region or format, you may need to format it for your DVD player.
  • Reset the DVD player. If the DVD player is faulty, you may need to reset it.
If you have tried all of these things and you are still getting the error message, then you may need to replace the DVD player.

DVD player loads then stops and says no disc, havent used it in about 4 years ,how do i get it to play dvd, tried to set up like it says but must be doing something wrong

Tries to play more than one DVD disc.Tries to play many DVD disc should be original DVD disc ok no DVD+R copying disc ok.If ur are still getting signal just saying loading signal awhile than say no disc show up, and u did playing it with many dvd original disc.Than the DVD player laser eye reader could be ditry.Tries websites like Amazon.com,Ebay.com to buy a DVD disc set that said like DVD players lasers eyes cleaners.Used it as directions said,if u still getting the same result mean ur DVD player laser eye reader it is dead, not worth repairing the DVD player if the DVD player laser eye reader it it dead, because the laser eye reader it is 90% important to the DVD player unit and the cost of it by replacing it will cost the same as a new DVD player unit.

Is the philips dvd player dvp3982 ale to play blu=ray disks?

DVD players cannot play Blu-Ray discs. Most Blu-Ray players have DVD support, which means they can play DVDs as well as Blu-Ray. Unfortunately, the DVP3982 is not a DVD player, not a Blu-ray player, therefore it cannot support this format.

DVP-NS30 shows "CANNOT PLAY" message when DVD inserted

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the DVD player cannot read or play the inserted disc.
  1. Ensure the inserted disc is compatible with the DVD player.IMPORTANT: Refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product for a list of compatible disc. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.
  2. Use a soft cloth to clean the disc.
  3. Examine the disc for any cracks or scratches that might be interfering with playback.
  4. Attempt to play another disc.NOTES:
    • If another disc plays in the DVD player, then the previous disc is faulty.
    • Some recordable discs may not play correctly because of the quality of the recording, the physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device or authoring software used.

  5. Remove the disc from the DVD player.
  6. Turn off the DVD player.
  7. Unplug the power cord of the DVD player from the AC outlet.
  8. Let the DVD player remain without power for 1 minute.
  9. Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
  10. Turn on the DVD player.
  11. Insert the disc into the DVD player.
  12. Attempt to play the disc.
If still persists, its time for your device to get serviced.

WHAT DVD DISCS WILL PLAY ON THIS DVD PLAYER

Assuming you are not having an actual hardware problem with the DVD player or an incompatible format (e.g. HD video & non-HD player); you should know that when you write video to DVD-R or DVD+R discs, you have to 'finalize' the discs on the creating drive for them to be playable on a regular DVD player. (Note a finalized disc can no longer be written to. If the player can read DVD-Ram (and your creating drive can write to them), DVD-Ram discs do not need to be finalized.)
