The TV is at my Mother's, so I can't check this immediately. Are you saying the DVD may not read closed caption's even though regular programing and the VCR do?

Closed caption does not work with composite video and it also often does not work with vbi codecs used on dvd. This may be the reason why you cannot use it on dvds.
If you have 'closed captio' option on your dvd device then you cane youse closed caption from dvd machine.

Ok, it is an all in one. Magnavox does not provide information regarding this problem on your specific model. On samsung all in one tvs I experienced a similar problem. This was because you could not use closed caption with dvd codecs. I think it is the same on your magnavox. Check if in dvd options you have an alterative zoom in command for dvd picture.

    regards

By the numbers! How do I turn on the closed

there is no closed captions on dvds, you can use subtitles, very similar to closed captions. just load dvd
look into either extra features or subtitles

it would say "english for deaf/hard of hearing." or just plain english subtitle. either way, it works.

I need to activate CC for my Dad, Please help I have to go to work. I have a flat screen SOYO

Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description.
Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning
Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function.
Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen.
To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. Alternately, some DVDs include English subtitles that you can turn on in the setup/language menu of the DVD.
Thank you.

DV2150 Close Captioning

Same problem here.
Instructions for DV2150 say you can access closed caption toggle by going to SETUP, then OTHER then CAPTION, but this (CAPTION) option is missing from the menu. I, too am struggling with the Jeopardy game buzzers, which I cannot program. Was wondering if the lack of "closed caption" is the reason

I had the same problem. My DVD player was connected to my HD TV via a HDMI cable as was recommended by the DVD owner's manual. I removed the HDMI cable and attached the three video component cables. Bingo, closed caption crossed immediately.

Closed caption on dvds

Your TV will need to have (CC) capability. To view Closed Captioning (CC) information from a DVD using the CC function of the television, turn off the Progressive Scan function of the DVD player. If the DVD player doesn't have progressive scan then follow the instructions from your TV manual to setup closed captioning.
