I am having the sample problem as someone else on this site with my scanner. The display is reading CANNOT RETRIEVE APPLICATION LIST. I tried everything and referred to the index for help as well as the manual. The person with this problem before said she was trying to set up from the printer when she should have been setting up with the desktop, but I've tried it with both. What am I doing wrong? Please help me as soon as you can my mom died on friday and I am desperately trying to scan photos of us together for a collage.

I have the lexmark X4550 Wireless Printer, this does the same thing cannot retreive application list when trying to scan from printer to computer via wireless. I have three PCs all Dell laptops and run Vista 64 bit business.
It does work if you after installing printer and setting up your network connection, but only once and I do it Like this: Once setup and computer and printer are booted, on pc go to internet explorer type in IP address for printer > configuration > scan to hosts > select delete all hosts > re-start pc and printer > once pc booted, boot printer > go to start on pc > all programs > Lexmark solution centre > advanced > change name of pc > press entre > and exit. Now go to Printer and select scan then select > new name on printer screen > press ok > scan to computer > start > and scans to pc. This makes it work however only once as will be seen when you try to scan again.
Now go to eventviewer on pc and see results, it will be seen an error occurs with the print spooler and the error says, cannot connect to an existing connection file is corrupt or missing.
