When getting a message that the DVD can't play or load, try playing a CD. If the CD works, the problem is most likely either failing optics or dirty optics. Try opening up the machine and carefully clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. That may resolve the problem. If not, then a trip to the service shop is in order.
