Question about Dryers

Hoover Tumble Dryer TV630

After being on for a good few hours, my TV630 was switched off while I left the house for half an hour, when I came back and switched it on the timer dial seemed to be making a louder noise and the drum wouldn't spin. I am not sure if the extra noise heard from the timer dial is just due to the drum noise being absent. If unloaded I can get the drum to spin but only with a little push start! I assume its the belt slipping or something although I can't hear any slipping noise, If anyone has any advice on this please reply, I have already changed the heater element on this so would really like to repair rather than replace.

SOURCE: tumble dryer makes whine noise but doesnt spin

Sounds like the drive belt has gone, and the noise you can hear is the motor going round.
The red glow you can see, will be the heater element glowing..
To check the belt, remove top cover, and you will be able to see if the belt is on or not, if you can see it round the drum, try to lift it up, if it has not broken, then you will not be able to remove it, and that means the motor or drum could be siezed, try to turn the drum by hand, it should be fairly stiff to turn, but not that stiff that you cannot turn it at all.

Please rate my fixya solution.
Thanks.

SOURCE: Fit belt on Tricity Bendix TM 220 W Tumble

Check the belt routing over the idlers near the motor, there is a spring tensioner, also make sure idlers are smoothly rotating and not seized.

I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Assuming this is a 220 volt dryer, are both sides of the breaker on? It should not blow only one side of the 220, but worth checking.

My tumble dryer doesn't dry the clothes

Check your breaker - a dryer will spin at 120 volts but needs the full 240 volts to dry. If that's not it, check your vent going outside the house and the hose coming from dryer. If its clogged, that's your problem. If not, you'll have a heating element issue which involves two separate fuses (and the element). Its best to hire someone if it gets to that point. Good luck...

Hoover Maxi 6 TC50 Tumble Dryer making squealing noise

Have you fixed this problem? I also have a Hoover condenser dryer, only a few months old, and has started to make a squeal/whistle. I'm thinking it might be the front fan needing some WD40, OR too much water vapour around the belt that moves the drum causing the sounds.

If it's the fan, lubricating the shaft and its components should fix the problem, if a wet fan then I'd think maybe fully cleaning the condenser filter, reservoir ect will fix the problem.

The problem seems to go away though "mostly" 15 or so minutes after you start the dryer, so that makes me think ones it gets warm something is expanding to allow more "give" so maybe the belt.

first, you should check the exhaust system, make sure every inch of it is clean on the inside. if it is clogged, there is sensors that turn off your heating element as a safety measure. if this is clean, there is 2 heat sensors, one of them probably needs replaced.

Dryer stuck in sensing mode

Since no help was available without premium assistance, I actually contacted a repairman. He performed all the tests again and told me the problem was the control board. Then wanted $600 to fix. I found the part online for $150 and fixed it myself in about an hour. Instructions were easy.
