If the belt is continually wearing out I would think that the brush cylinder is not free to rotate. Take the belt off and ensure that the brush cylinder moves freely. If is does not, then you need to investigate why - probably something wound round it that has jammed it.

I have a simplicity freedom Model S10E we cleaned out the hose and now it will not self adjust to my carpets. I have one carpet that is higher and its hard to push and I have a rubber smell

The rubber smell is the belt slipping up against the roller since it does not have enough friction to fully turn the roller. Either fix the adjustment for a high carpet or install a tighter belt that can cope with the job.

My simplicity 7200 does not have vacuum. Air comes out the front post filter area

If air is coming out of the filter air has to be going in through the suction hose but it may be restricted with a clog. Replace the bag and both filters. If it's been over six months since the belt has been changed start by changing the belt. Most of the vacuums brought to my store with the customer stating "it has no suction" actually have great suction but no agitation from the brush roll. If the belt is not turning the brush roll fast enough when vacuuming the carpets it will not even pickup lint and hair.

When operating smells like burnt rubber. Roller brush stopped turning.

Hi leanneaj...
Your problem is caused by hair, strings, etc getting around the beater bar at the ends of the roller where the bearings are and causes it to sease up.
The smell you smelled was rubber burning, the rubber belt that operates the roller brush has burned into...broken.
You will have to remove your roller brush and clean, and oil and then reinstall it with a new belt

Vacuum cleans properly, however smells like rubber. Nothing is caught in belt

You need to replace the vacuum belt. Even though the belt may look fine it is probably stretched or worn and slipping on the motor shaft and that is why there is a burnt rubber smell. You can get replacement belts here:

I've had the Hoover Windtunnel for a couple years now. Its starting to smell when you vacuum. Why and how do I fix it???

I was experiencing the same problem right after changing the belt for the first time, as my Hoover is just a few months old. I am assuming what you are smelling is burnt rubber, like your belt, right? Well, if you have changed your belt recently, make sure you are using the right one. If you're not using Hoover's authentic belts and you're buying it from Wal-Mart, make sure it's the correct one, otherwise it won't work right and/or it will give off a burnt rubber smell. One other thing you could try doing first, is raising the carpet height adjustment up a notch or two. If you have it too low and your beater-bar/brush roll has to work too hard, it will start to smell also.Good luck!

Eureka 2961 BVZ no suction, burning smell

I have the same vacuum. The burning smell is letting you know that your belt is either broken or about to break. I have had mine for a year and have had to replace the belt 5 times. Now I have to replace the brush roller 'cause it broke under normal use. My next vacuum will be a Dyson Ball.

Smells (burnt rubber) like it's overheating when I vacuum

I would check the brush roller and make sure it turns good and replace the belt on it . When you smell burning rubber most of the time it is the belt .
