If you are still in the year warranty microsoft will repair free,if not its £81 for them to fix.Its an easy fix if you want to do yourself, the thermal paste in between the heatsinks and chip needs replacing, look on youtube and you will find loads of vids on how to open console, you will also need an xclamp kit,you can buy for £2 on ebay(make sure you buy one with nylon washers and themal paste),then take heatsinks off and clean chips and bottom of heatsinks and replace with new paste, then either use original xclamps(i never do,i use xclamp kit,it makes job a lot easier)or use bolts and washers that you get with kit,and within an hour you'll have a working xbox, you can also veiw vids on youtube how to change xclamps and clean off old paste. It might look a bit tricky but its as easy as changing a fuse in a plug, just on a bigger scale

Sound but no picture

Could be several things. Suggest you check the scart connection to the TV. Is it in the right socket? Is it fully plugged in? Have you selected the right input on the TV? Try a different Scart lead if you have one.

I can not see any picture or sound at all. We have the HDMI cable pluged in the PS3 and the TV, but red white ,and yellow plugs we r not sure where they should be.

There are different settings for PS3 video output, i.e. if it is set for HDMI it wont display when a scart lead is used. Try the scart connector, if it works go into settings and change to how you want it set, dont forget to save settings

When i plug my new tv into the sky box via a scart, the tv picture is distorted and a major buzzing noise is coming from the tv. sky have checked and said the box is fine. when u connect to another tv it...

Have you tried another scart lead? Also tried all of the tv scart sockets? Don't try and cure this by using an expensive upmarket scart lead, you'll just be wasting your money. The cheapest leads work just as well when the function correctly.

You could also try reversing your current lead by swapping the tv end to the Sky box and vice-versa, as there are many leads which cause feedback issues, and also a lot of "cut" leads (designed to prevent feedback looping) which must be fitted the correct way around. A "cut" lead is one where the wire to pin 19 at the tv end and to pin 20 at the video/Sky box end has been cut.

Note that scart leads MUST be fitted with the tv and Sky box switched off to avoid damage. Most people (including professional installers) regularly ignore this precaution though.

If all else fails then take the tv back and exchange it under the Sale of Goods Act; it's certainly not uncommon for new tv's to have faulty scart sockets.

If I've solved your problem then please take a moment to rate my answer. If not, then please report back with the make and model of TV and I'll try a more specific answer.

I have same problem sound but no picture, have tried it on 2 different tv's but no luck, have tried 2 different hdmi leads (both Bush 26602bu) but no luck. I even thought it was the port on my tv but it works fine with another dvd player and the same lead. I even returned the dvd player and exchanged it, still the same... It's driving me nuts...

Black and white and feedback

hi this problem usually happens if you have got alot of things plugged into the telly like dvd players this causes the interferance and can be solved by disconecting these other items.
Also are you plugging it into the telly via scart lead or are you using the av leads ie the different coloured ones.
If you are using scart fitting have you tried pressing the av button on the telly controll as if you are not on the right av chanell this will cause black and white pictures so give it a try also this is the same with the coloured leads let me know how you get on.
Make sure their is nothing in the conector at the ps3 end like a biit of paper or fluff as this can cause all sorts of problems and dont use your ps3 on carpet as it will cause unit to get to hot and will cause parts to overheat and will need replacing check all air vents are free from dust and make sure its on hard surface if the unit has overheated it will cost a fortune to repair
