Bought a Philips portable dvd player for my mother-in-law so she could look at her photos which we had burned to a cd for her (jpeg format). The images are all squished up and when we use the set-up menu to change the image from 16:9 to 4:3, it makes no difference at all! Any ideas?

Re: Jpeg images are all squished up
The jpeg images will have to be resized using PhotoShop or another image editing program in either a 4 to 3 proportion, or a 16 to 9 proportion - whichever format you want to stick with. Then reburn the images to disc.

Buy Craig CTFT716N 7" TFT Swivel Screen Portable DVD/CD Player with Remote Control at ... I had one of these portable dvd players but paid over $100.00.
Yes it should, as it supports JPEG file playback.
Create a folder on your desktop, drag and drop the photos you want onto it and then burn the folder onto a CD-R.
Alternatively, most Photo software allows you to create a CD from your photo collection.
Photos must be in the JPEG format (pretty much the default and most common file format used for photos).
It seems that the image format is not supported by the Player. The Player supports only JPEG files. If the images are already in JPEG format, it seems that the issue is with the disc. You may copy the images to the Computer burn them to a new CD or DVD to check if that helps.
If the images are not in JPEG format, then you may convert the images to supported format using any convertion Software.
If the issue persists, then you may reset the Player by pressing STOP and POWER button at the same time when the Player is ON. This should resolve the issue.
I was using a memorex ultra speed cd-rw and did not work, but i decided to use a regular cd-r digital audio and it worked! Just creat a folder named BG and place up to 20 jpeg pictures in that folder, then place 100MB of files (Not mp3) outside the folder and burn it onto the cd and youre done!

I havent seen this model But in the past I have heard this problem arise. It turned out that there was a mute button for the cd only on the remote and there was no indicator to show it. check for a cd mute or go into the cd play menu and check around in there.
