Sansa e200 locks up in refresh database during startup

Please let me know what the next step to recover my e200.

My sansa e200 is now unusable.

I am now in Recovery Mode and the screen on my sansa now reads as follows:

*********************************
Welcome to Recovery Mode
*********************************
Please connect USB cable

USB cable connected
Enter USB2.0 MSD mode

On my computer the device is recognized as 16MB-FORMAT (F:) - the only contents of this is a file named VERSION

same deal here-tried it all also. I'm looking for some way of deleting the OS, so I can reload it. Apparently, the Sansa "Updater" only works when the firmware needs to be updated. Since mine is the latest, it doesn't seem to want to reload...

My Sansa e270 gets about a third of the way through "refresh database" and then locks up solid. Plus, as another person noted, my computer doesn't even recognize it any more.

If the computer can find ur sansa(or 16mb format) you should rightcliick and format it. this will delete ur music, videos, etc but it will make ur player usable

Refresh database

Sansa e200 provides a RESET function for unresponsive units. Press and hold the MENU button for 15 seconds, and this should work to regain normal funtionality. Please note: settings and adjustments from the last operation WILL BE LOST. The files however should remain.

Freezing at "refresh database!

I had the same problem once with my NEW one as well. You have to reinstall the firmware then erase all your music if you can't find any corrupt files on it. to get the new firmware, you must dowload it from somewhere (can't remember exactly) and then start your mp3 in recovery mode (turn "hold" on and hold "record button" until recovery mode shows up and asks you to put files on 16 meg removable disk.) the firmware to be exact. once you have the firmware files, put them on that 16 meg removable disc then disconnect mp3 and it will reset. it shouldn't want to refresh database. at that point you should delete all your music and start from scratch. I know it sucks!:(
