Our dryer is not drying as it has in the past. Have checked the vent, drum rotation and heat, but still does not dry clothes properly. Any suggestions?

Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. This was the out vent of my dryer... If it gets this bad... open up the dryer housing and clean inside too. Also make sure the intake is free of lint.

Pull the dryer out away from the wall. Unhook the vent from the dryer completely. Do not put anything over the dryer exhaust on the back of the dryer. Do a normal load with the vent unhooked. If it dries better or ok like this then the problem is in the dryer venting. Like a blocked vent pipe or a smashed or restricted vent hose.
- If the vent doesn't make a difference, then check the blower wheel for excessive lint build up, check that there isn't anything stuck to the air intake baffle inside the drum, (i.e. the screen on the back wall of the dryer when looking into the drum). Check the lint filter chute for blockage. Check that the heating element isn't shorted to ground. Check the exhaust temperature of the dryer. A meat or pocket thermometer can be used for this. It should cycle approx between 110 degrees and 150 degrees. Check that the drum seals are not worn out.

if you have any heat than your element is good,the reason it take's so long to dry the clothe's is due to a blockage,first you nead to look behind the dryer with out moving it to see if the vent hose is pinched off,next try running the dryer with out the vent hose hooked up,if it dry's well than you have a blockage some were between were the vent hose hook's up to the dryer and vent outside.you nead to check the roller's for the clicking noice.

So let me get this straight, you are getting heat from the gas burner and the drum rotates but your clothes remain wet? You can check a few basic things to identify where the problem lies.. First off, have you checked the lint trap and cleaned it? Secondly, have you checked your vent system ( meaning : are you sure it is not clogged anywhere in the duct or at the end where it exits outside? If that's OK.. when your system is drying clothes.. do you get hot air flow at the end of that duct? If not, your blower may not be working ..You need to move that hot air out of the tub for the system to dry. Heat, Motion to move clothes, air flow from the blower and an unimpeded path via the vent duct to outside.. Hope one of these things to check gets you going. Regards...

Your house dryer vent is clogged. There may also be lint in the internal ducts of the dryer.
