How do I pick the perfect pole saw?

Want to saw up high, but think it's dangerous to saw on a ladder? Good thinking. So how can you get your saw to reach those high branches while keeping your feet planted on the ground?

Take a lightweight chainsaw, add a stick, and you get a pole saw.
TYPE There are three types of pole saw. You can choose any one of them based on your requirements.
CORDLESS POLE SAW Cordless pole saws are said to be the handiest pole saw as it removes the hassle of carrying wires and cords during pruning. It operates through a rechargeable battery. But, due to its battery pack, its operation time is very specific. If you want to extend the time for heavy duties, you can use extra battery packs.
One of the best advantages of cordless pole saw is its need for low-maintenance. You would hardly need to maintain its well-being.
GAS POWERED POLE SAW Gas powered pole saws are mostly chosen by the professionals for its heavy-duty bars and chains and have the power to cut huge and large branches with ease. This pole saw can be extended up to 9 inches so you might distinguish its expertise in trimming high rise trees. It is good for regular use. It is heavier than the electric one and noisy also. Despite being heavy, you would not face any problem working with it as the pole saw is easy to balance.
ELECTRIC POLE SAW Electric pole saws are preferred for small branches trimming as it has blades of 6"-10". It weighs about 10 pounds that means you can carry the saw effortlessly. It does not require high maintenance as well. Plug the long extension cord before you start, aim at the branches and begin pruning with this electric pole saw.

My saw won't run when I press the switch trigger.

First, check the outlet it's plugged into.
Power cords can go open, try holding the trigger (careful), and bend the power cord near the plug, and near the saw.
Trigger switches can go out.
saw motors can go out.

Replacing trigger switch for remington pole saw

To change that trigger switch on a Remington saw, you need to open up the two handle halves and expose the switch. The wires are just "poked" into the switch, so you can make a tool to release them. I used a 1/16" diameter short length of wire and flattened about a 1/2" of it on an anvil. Push it in next to the wire and the wire will pull out, wiggle the tool a bit and it will pull out too. Push the wires into the new switch and put it all back together.

The switch is probably a #077525S ...seen them out there for $8 to $15.

71/4 craftsman pro series, no power. outlet has power

You could have a couple of different problems. The first place to start is the cord. A quick and easy test to do is to crimp the cord in your hand while the saw is plugged in and press the trigger. Crimp the cord moving it in your hand from the plug to the handle. If there is a break in the cord you may connect it for a couple of seconds and you will get some power to the saw. This way you can locate the faulty section of the cord. If nothing happens next you should remove the handle cover and switch. Test the cord with a continuity tester to make sure the cord is providing the power. If the cord checks out next move to the switch. There should be 2 wires going into the switch from the cord and 2 wires going out to the motor. Test for continuity through the switch for each pole while depressing trigger and also when trigger is open. If your switch checks out, next check your motor by disconnecting the wires from the switch that go to the motor. You can check continuity between these two wires. If there is continuity nothing is wrong with your motor because it is making a circuit. If you do not have continuity it could be a bad brush a shorted armature or field, or a broken wire. This would require total dis-assembly and further testing. If you need any information please post back. I will check back to see if you require further assistance
