you can't remove them..you can only run chkdsk from the windows environment..resurfacing drives is old school, and not usual for high density drives.

If you want want, go to your command prompt. Either start, programs, accessories or start, run, cmd and hit ok. Just type chkdsk /f and the system will tell you it can't run it right now. It will ask you if you want it to run the next time your pc starts up. Just type y and hit enter. Close the window and restart your pc. If there are bad sectors though it is time to start thinking about a new hard drive.

Firstly once a disk has bad sectors ,it is on the way out ,so back up your data .

if you download the disc utility from the makers website (free) for your drive , sometimes it can recover the bad sectors and the data .

it may be that you only have a couple of bad sectors, in which case, its not so much an issue ,just leave them alone, but as you get more & more the drive is on its way out .
if you have critical data on it, replace the drive now ,before you cant get into.
or you may live to regret it .

good luck
Terry

Try scandisk from your pc. bad secotors are a sigh that your hard drive is going out. I would not use a hard drive that reads bad secotors. scan it first with AVG
http://avg.download-go.com/ its free.

When a hard disk has bad sectors, the magnetic layer is worn out and the number of bad sectors will increase. If you keep using this hard disk you risk losing your data. This hard drive cannot be repaired, throw it away and get a new one.

Hi i have a problem my computer's hard disk is formatting when i format it shows the error of bad sector so please give me suggestion how can i remove bad sectors

Hi, the bad news is you cant remove the bad sectors, once you start getting these you will keep getting even more what it is telling you is that the part that stores the data on has either been damaged due to a part failing in the hard drive or it could have got knocked about a bit, the usual suspect is down to the arm that moves across the disk that reads the data these ware and then this causes it to touch the data part of the disk causing the bad sectors.

their is nothing you can do to repair the problem as its just impossible the only chance you have of using the computer is to replace the hard drive, thats your only option.

the bad sectors are telling you that that part of the hard drive is damaged and can no longer be used, the disk will work around these parts but you will find you will keep getting more and more and eventually you will lose everything on the hard drive and you wont be able to use it any more.

you need to get hold of new hard drive before you install your operating system again.

Boots halfway then it stops.

That is a sign of Hard Disk Failure or bad clusters due to inproper formating

Perform this tests to ascertain your Hard disk durability
1. Turn Off the computer
2. Restart it, Press F2 to go to the BIOS at the black screen when the PC comes up displaying the manufacturers name:
3. Goto the Advanced Menu or the Menu Option that displays your Drives.
4. On the drive that has the problem, select the option that performs a hard disk test.

This would take sometime and at the end, the result of the test would tell if your Hard disk is bad.

A second option is to use a reliable hard disk partition software like partition magic to reformat and repair bad clusters and damaged sectors in your harddisk

Click here to download it and use it if the first option fails:

Pxe-e61 media test failure. i have managed to get the computer into safe mode but will not run in normal mode why is this and how can i fix it?

This issue is often caused by either an incorrect setting in bios or a bad boot device, such as a bad hard disk drive. To resolve this issue, run scandisk to check if the hard drive have develop a bad sector. Double click mycomputer and right click drive C: and select properties, tools, check now and check the the two options in the check this option windows and reboot your computer. During the reboot of computer the scandisk is check your harddisk after the scandisk finished scanning you can read the result if you see the bad sector or cluster found it's mean that your hard drive is damage in you need to replace it to correct the error. But if no bad sector found try to remove the software or hardware that you installed before the problem is occured go to control panel then add and remove software. if you have a registry scanner software like pctools registry mechanic try to run it to fix the problem in the registry.
