This sounds like a driver issue, probably the network driver since it doesn't work in Safe mode with networking (assuming that the internet is connected there). Try 'last known good configuration'. If that doesn't work, boot into safe mode and try to restore to a previous date.

I have an HP notebook. I was on Skype with a friend when suddenly it froze showing green colors on the screen. Nothing would un freeze it so I opted to turn it off through the power button. ...

Step 1:
Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive You should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer also Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue and then replace the file. Type the following command and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

My laptop was a gift xmas 1 year ago. when i turn it on there is a black screen and then there is this message ; it say sorry for this problen windows didn't start normally. then it gives me 4 or 5 choices...

#2 "safe mode with networking" will only work if you were attached to a local network and configured to boot from it. This is not the normal configuration for most users. The network they are referring to is NOT the internet.

You should try #1 and after it is booted try a restart [Start], [Shut down], then use the pull-down to select Restart. If once it

Wont get to the login screen no matter which option i click

If you are able to start the pc in safe mode, login as Administrator and restore the computer to a previous date when it was working fine.

When you turn on the computer in safe mode, it will show you the default user and Administrator. Click on Administrator to logon.

Then it will show you a screen which tell you that the windows is running in safe mode, press "No" on this message

You will be getting a system restore window. Follow the instruction for restore the windows to a date when the system was working fine,
After restore Reboot in normal mode

Booting problem

You may have to boot from a CD and make a repair.
Once logged in the CD, choose repair option (Recovery Console), and type these three commands:
1) fixmbr (wait til it finishes)
2) fixboot (wait...)
3) CHKDSK (this will take longer than the previous two.
Your laptop may now boot normally. I think your laptop doesn't have an internal CD-ROM so you may use an external USB CD.

Compac presario R3000 problem

That screen is normal but only shows on certain occasions. Just use your arrow keys to highlight "Start Windows Normally" and press enter and you will continue to the blue sign in screen. If the removal software asks you start Windows in "Safe Mode", then restart the computer and select "Safe Mode with Networking".

Most common method for receiving that screen and those options is pressing a specific key during start-up for additional start-up methods. Another reason which may be the reason for your case is that something went wrong during start-up. Just follow the instructions above and it will be fine. Usually the reason why you are asked to choose is shown at the top of the screen and it will tell what the problem is.

Black screen comes up "windows did not start successfully...." choose from safe mode, safe mode with networking etc Last known Configuration or Start Windows Normally. Computer then tries to...

You should opt Safe Mode:
  • On the black screen just navigate throug up and down arrow keys.
  • Goto Safe Mode and press enter.
  • It will boot your system in safe mode.
If the boot is success full:
  • try to remember any software or hardware you recently installed/change. Then remove/uninstall that software/hardware. Also remove some device driver like Video/Audio driver and make re-start. and try to normal boot. If success then install your audio/video.
If no success then I think its time to re-install your windows.
Please post your feed-back.
