Close your inlet wall valve, examine thoroughly for blockages, clogged screens, clean well, check water pressure (it shd have pressure), refit carefully, check for leaks on opening. Also check screens on machine inlet.

I am talking abt hose from wall outlet, unscrew. If this fails you shd clean your dispenser, where the water sprays into tray. Refer manual.

GE Model WJRE5550H1WW When I press the start button I get lights but the water doesn't start filling. This has progressed from an occasional occurrence to frequent. Am considering replacing the board...

I am hoping you fixed this problem already but if not I here is what I found out last night. My washer was acting similar to what your describing. I hit the start and I get lights flashing between fill and wash. I found out the behind the control panel is a service paper. On this paper it will describe to you how to run diagnostic on the control panel to check for error codes and the functions for the washer(Pump, spin, hot water valve, cold water valve, slow agitate, fast agitate). When test the functions a second LED was lit indicating the pressure switch(also called water level switch) was showing a full load. Washer was empty! I then unpluged the washer and checked for continuity on the water level switch between the termials where the orange wire and the brown wire attach to. I was having sporadic continuity.(explains the flashing lights between fill and wash). If you have no continuity or sporadic like I did replace the switch. It is like $20 shipped on line. I hopes this helps. I spent I good 6 hours on the internet yesterday piecing info together on this because I couldn't find the same problem I was having.

My washer keeps saying DL

DL is the drainline or pump. Find where the hose is that drains the washer, follow to the pump. It is most likely just clogged, take it off, it should have a bladder probably filled with coins, bra pieces, stuff. Good luck it should take an hour even if you think it is difficult. Reviews are welcomed.

Washer filled up and is not washing. acts like it

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Newer model Whirlpool / Kenmore washers use a Lid Switch as a safety device. Unless the switch senses that the lid on the washer is closed, the washer will neither agitate nor spin.

Older models only used the switch during the spin cycle.

Try to bypass the Lid Switch by removing the Console and jumping the two outermost pins on the switch.

This is a Whirlpool PDF on how these washers operate. It has a diagram on jumping the switch as well as a detailed section on how the transmission works.$FILE/L-55.pdf

It also has a troubleshooting guide.

To bypass the switch, you only have to disconnect the power to the washer, tilt the console back, unplug the switch and using an short piece of insulated wire, jump the two outermost contacts on the connector coming from the console and plug the washer back in.

Following is a description of how to gain access to the console and how to remove the cabinet if necessary.

With the jumper in place, try to re-start the washer.

If it works, the Lid Switch is a relatively inexpensive part and only requires you to access the console and remove the cabinet.

Nothing happens

Remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer and check the inlet valve screens/filters for build up or blockage . If that doesn't work you may need to replace the inlet valve.

Stackable washer

ibunton. 10 loads, what some bad luck. Your model is a direct drive, so there are no belts. From your description it almost sounds like your drain pump is jammed causing the motor to kick on overload. Remove the front panel by pushing on the two clips just below the top on each end about 2 inches in. The panel will pull off. The pump sits right in front. There are two clips that hold the pump on. Remove the clips and pull the pump off. Now put the timer to the spin position and start it, see if the motor turns. If so, your pump is probabley jammed with something. If it is the pump the part number is 3363394. Easy fix, 2 clamps, 2 clips. If the pump is ok, then we'll have to dig in deeper. The attachment shows a top loader, but the pump, motor and trans are the same as your stacked unit. back
