Nvidia Vetro Geforce 6800GT on E510? Need help setting up max displays MD 219 dual displays

Hi all,

Hi all, I recently upgraded my video card to the Nvidia Vetro Geforce 6800GT from the stock Radeon X300 on my E510. I'm trying to run dual monitors on this system, however, my computer isn't picking up the second monitor; It does not give me the option to stretch the screen. I've installed and reinstalled the drivers and still no go. To be more specific, I have the Max Displays MD - 219 but I can't seem to get both monitors to come on at the same time. These monitors are connected and share a single power source. II've tried using two seperate computers to turn on both monitors simultaneously and that has worked, so it seems both monitors do power on and work properly.

I've tried hooking up just the right monitor and my old dell monitor to the card and it works fine with the extend desktop in properties/settings, but for some reason the left monitor just won't get detected (it gets stuck on a screen that says Self Diagnostics, Digital, No Signal, Check Signal Cable).

I tried using a Y splitter with the Left and right monitor, and both left and right displays come on with the same image, so from my understanding it's able to turn on and have an image. I've also unplugged the right panel when it was working, then plugged in the left one and that seemed to make the left one work; however, when I plug in the right panel afterwards they both go out. The Card seems to work perfectly fine as I can run both my old dell monitor and the right monitor as an extended desktop.

Does anyone have any ideas at all what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Here are the spec on your pc if the information you gave me is correct. You can only upgrade the cpu to the socket you have. I think you would be better off adding more RAM and a better video card that isn't onboard. Processor / Chipset
  • Type AMD Athlon X2 7450 / 2.4 GHz
  • Number of Cores Dual-Core
  • 64-bit Computing Yes
  • CPU Qty 1.0
  • Max CPU Qty 1.0
  • Chipset Type NVIDIA GeForce 8200

Setup dual-boot disks, one loads VGA instead of GeForce 6200

You should enter Bios setup when restarting and check that it says AGP or PCI for video display. You can then go to Start then Run and type in msconfig. Go through the list for the startup menu and make sure that NVIDIA is displayed with a checkmark.
When you installed the new driver, also make sure that you disabled the default VGA driver too. You may have to check that out. If both are running there will be conflict. Any questions, please don't hesitate.

Laggy display after a few minutes play

lot of the game now a days require a pretty big video card. A 5200 is outdated and i know u cant upgrade your laptop. The best solution to this is increase the amount of RAM in your laptop to the max. When you run games lower the video settings to low or medium. Another thing that can help is running msconfig in the RUN box and turning off lot of apps that run in background

Nvidia fx 5200

The only time that this can happen is if the driver is not installed correctly, as on install you are normally asked if you want to activate support for dual monitors, so if you havent already, uninstall the card driver, restart and install driver again from the cd or from the NVIDIA website. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html If you have already tried this my apologies.
