Picture went black, sound is good. Assume from my research CCFL(s) are bad. Attached is a picture of the set with back panel removed. Could it be the Backlight Inverter? Guess it makes sense to change the bulbs first since they are less costly. Appreciate your help greatly. Brad

Re: Sanyo LCD TV DP32746 no picture
Easy way to Diagnose is get a known good CCFL from a laptop or LCD TV and start plugging it in to the existing Cathode's Ports one at a time. Generally its a bad CCFL on these multiple units.. (2,4,6) Bulbs.. Moniserv.com for replacements.
I had the same problem great sound but know pictur , after removing the back i noticed the cable going from 1 off the boards to the manualy operated button for channels and volume was streched and wer it was plug into the board the one of the pins had broken , i just sniped that particular wire going to that pin and solderd it to the point on the underneath of the board wer the broken pin was located and it worked fine , and at least i found out that it was that cable was controling the picture anyhow along with the board it was atached two

It sounds like you have a power supply problem, this powers the inverter! Where you just replaced the inverter, we could assume it is good! Look for
some bad caps (capacitors) on the power supply board. They will look bulged on the
top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain). The power supply can fail on some output and be good on others. Was the back light inverter new? If all else fails, see if you can return the back light inverter and get another! I hope this is helpful!!
Check to see if the set is under warranty or an extended warranty.
If not, ouch, but do-able.
From least to worst case, possibilities include
1. Bad panel drivers (between the Y-Sus PCB and Panel)
2. Bad Y-Sustain board or equivalent.
3. Bad power supply.
4. Control PCB.
5. Bad Panel.
Or any combination of...
I would recommend that you have a certified and factory authorized technician repair your set. Or at least diagnose it. Not always is it just replacing a board. There are adjustments that need to at least be verified by a knowledgeable technician.
Wouldn't want to get zapped. There is High Voltage back there.
You might also try entering the make and model number of your set online to search for others with like problems on the same model. Odds are that it has happened more than just once and that other techs may have a definate solution to your problem.
Just takes a little research.
I have this tv as well with the same problem. From the research I've done, one of the 16 ccfl's(backlight bulbs) goes bad and they all will not come on then. I have not been able to find a replacement ccfl for this particular tv. The ccfl size if 3mm x 711mm. I have a feeling the scope of this problem is very large with this particular tv and this forum represents the tip of the iceberg. Sanyo unfortunately makes a piece of junk and we have that piece of junk sitting in our homes with no good solution other than to say, dont waste your money on another Sanyo tv.
