Brother 3240 printer problem

The printer says "See maintenance and routine check " chapter in user's manual.!!

    I insert my magenta ink cartridge. My 3240C asks me if I have inserted a cartridge. I press #1 for yes. It has been giving me an error message that says "replace cartridge" even after I do so. I have checked to make sure that the new cartridge is seeded properly. It is. I have replaced dozens of cartridges before without a problem. I even returned the cartridge and got a new one thinking that it might be faulty. I really need my printer. Can you help me?

I am having the same problem. I have had two brother 3240C machines. It seems like you have to replace them about every 2 years. Might try another machine this time. What happened to the good old days when things worked forever?

I have the same error message “Check the Troubleshooting and Routine Maintenance Chapter in User's Guide" I called customer service for "BROTHER 1-800-284-4329 USA; 1-877-BROTHER for CANADA. The Tech’s and I performed a series of diagnostic test, via the phone but were unable to solve the problem... Brother seem to believe that I have a defected printer head, Brother referred me to a local authorize service agent for Brother. I do have my User's Guide and there is no additional information that I was able to use to resolve this problem. HOW EVER, I am able to get the machine to print by opening the cover and close it as if I had installed ink, or removed a paper jam “SIMPLY OPEN AND CLOSE THE COVER”. I also vacuumed and blew the insides and the outside buttons of the machine with forced air from my vacuum, after all that I still have the same problem. My solution...buy a new machine mine is 32 months old and I probably have ran 15k or more print, fax, and copy jobs.
Some times we need to know when to move on, TIME IS MONEY AND TIME WASTED IS UN-REFUNDABLE.

Hi there. . . okay . . . Follow this step
1.) Unplug your printer.
2.) Plug your printer again while holding the menu button 15 sec.
3.) select 8 by using the arrow buttons ,push OK and select 0 and push OK
4.) then numbers appear looks like this ###:### ###:###.
5.) now push the MONO button until the purge:#### appears on the LCD
6.) Select 2, push ok, select 7,push ok,select 8,push ok, select 3,push ok

7.) - switch off the printer ,switch it on
- ready to print

u need go to the brother service centre to fix it...this problem is inside got a ink absorber is full n need to reset the counter code!

Will not print
