Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

HI...I just bought the powershot A720 a couple of days ago, and I've taken approx. 30-40 shots so far....well, tonight, I went to take some more pics of my daughter (i took about 11 0r 12 shots), and when I went to look back at them, along with all the other shots i've taken previously, the shots I took tonight were there, but ALL the other shots were GONE...I have no idea how this happened...I never deleted any, and I am VERY upset because I had some really nice shots on there...can you help or am I screwed...did I lose all those shots for good?...please help!

My A720 is takes blurry photo only around edges

Is there any dirt on the lens? make sure it is clean. if this is not the issue you will need to open the camera and make sure it is clean on the inside as well (I DO NOT reccomend to do this alone)

2nd
make sure to use rechargeable batteries ONLY
I reccomend using ENELOOP (by sanyo) or FUJITSU
make sure the batteries are made in Japan!!

Tip

I have the same problem with a Canon Powershot s20. Bought approx 5 years ago...

Many digital cameras (eg Samsung D53, Nikon 2100) have extremely poor battery life with alkaline batteries (under 20 shots!). Sometimes they won't even take a single picture.

Try using rechargeable batteries or "oxyride" disposable batteries. They perform infinately better.

There no pic in the display,it seems like its taking a pic but wont

Connect the camera to a PC and download a few pictures. Or remove the SDcard and insert it in a USB card reader. If pics are black also it's a problem with the CCD chip and connected electronics.

If there's a clean picture it's a display problem. Display replacement is quite a micro mechanical feat - but can be done. Displays can be taken from dead camera's saving a few.

My a720 is on auto but won't take a pic everytime just the bright orange light on the front and nothing happens

Soundsl ike you got a autofocus issue and this needs to be taken care of by a camera shop. The issue here is the auto focus sensor the normally causes the camera to not turn on or to turn on and the breif off again. I would have it looked at by a camera shop,

LCD Screen remains black

Hi!
Have you tried pushing the DISP button while taking pictures? It's on the right from the LCD.

Saving a zoomed picture

I hope you can do this thru the computer only.

If you want to zoom the image thru the camera and save only the zoomed portion, then it is not possible as far as I know.

Lost pictures????

It sounds like your memory card is corrupt. This most important thing is not to use the card any further until you have recovered your pictures. Unfortunately i see from the date of your post that this may not be the case. What you need is some memory card picture recovery software. There are several shareware programs available for download. Try googling it. Good luck!
