Im thinking you got a cracked refrigerator liner!! heres the problem with that, its strictly a cosmetic issue, in years past kit aid would consider that a non-field repairable issue and change to refrig out for you.now they've come out with a repair, consisting of an epoxy kit that we go out and epoxy the crack(s) for you, although still noticeable far less than a cracked liner. if necessary and enough cracks in wall they have an epoxy liner kit that will cover entire side wall of the refrig, all depends on the affected area. ive done quite a few epoxy repairs, never a complete panel, but the few epoxy repairs ive done the customer seemed satisfied with the result..again strictly cosemtic issue so ifyou leave it alone oyou will be endangering absolutly nothing exept an unsightly crack.

where is the ice,is it on the food and shelves or is it on the back inside wall of the freezer?if it's on the back inside wall of the freezer you have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, heater, timer or board depending on your model number,if it's on the shelves, door and food packages warm air is getting into the freezer somehow either from the door not closing or the door was left open, could have a bad gasket on the door, the ice chute door could be broke and not closing.let me know what you find and the picture shows a side by side but i'll need the model number too,if it's a side by side or freezer on the bottom the model number should be in the fridge section,on the right hand wall up near the ceiling,if the freezer is on top the number should be on the left side wall in the fridge section up near the ceiling.but with this hot wheather we're having if the door was left open this will happen, you can shut down the machine or unplug it,remove the food from the freezer and melt the ice with a hair dryer, don't do this with the machine running because the hot air will cause the same problem, after the ice is melted you can put the food back in and restart it.

I have a one year old Whirlpool side by side refrigerator model # ED5PVEXWS that has intermittent water leaks on the bottom of the fridge lately. Can someone help as to how I can fix it myself (60 yrs old...

hi,it sounds like you have a blocked drain in the freezer.the evapoator coil freezes up,then the machine goes into defrost,a heater comes on and melts the ice off of the coil, the melted water goes down a drain line that drains into the back near the compressor and condenser coil where it will evaporate in a pan.your drain line sounds like it's blocked and has to be cleared.if you open the freezer, remove the bottom bin if it isn't frozen in with ice and if the freezer floor has ice on it the drain is blocked.if this is what you have shut down the machine with the controls or unplug it,remove the food and bottom bins, look at the bottom back wall,if you can see the drain hole and have enough room to stick a turkey baster into it you don't have to do anything else,if you can't see it you have to remove a few more shelves and food so you can remove the inside back wall to get at the drain hole.melt out all the ice with a hair dryer, you might be there for 10 to 20 minutes or a little longer depending on how much ice is there, when the drain hole looks free of ice pour a cup of hot water into the hole,if the water drains you're done,if it doesn't get the turkey baster and stick it into the hole and pump it a few times to see if the water will drain down, also you can pull the fridge away from the wall, unplug it and remove the bottom back panel,on the right hand side usually this is where the drain line is,if you see water in the pan where the end of the drain line is you know the water is passing through the drain tube.also while you're there get a vac and clean out any dust you see.i use a steemer to clean out the drain,it works great.hope this helps and good luck.also if there's alot of ice on the freezer floor you can tap it easy with a hammer or any tool and crack it out and use a putty knife to help get the rest up or if you want just melt it all with the hair dryer.

Frost and icicles in frost free freezer

Then the defrost assembly has stopped working. On the freezer side of the unit, remove food, remove shelves, remove the rear inside panel of the freezer. Defrost with heat gun or hair dryer and replace the defrost assembly. You can find this part on line with your make and model number.

How do I locate the drain tube inside the side by side refrigerator??? There is no water in the drain pan.

the drain tube is going to be in the freezer section on the back wall.you will have to remove shelves and and back panel of freezer..the drain is in the bottom of unit and runs through cavity of panel and under unit usually located in a drain pan near compressor... what happens is that get clooged and you have to thaw out from the freezer section and then run some hot water down it after thawed out and watch drain... a hair dryer works great for this

Freezer is slowly getting warmer - water dispenser won't dispense (occasionally) turbo cool won't work

Open freezer door and look for any frost on the back wall inside the freezer. That would indicate a defrost problem.
Disconnect power to refrig. Unload freezer, Remove shelves and back panel inside freezer. Melt frost with a hair blower. Replace defrost heater located at the bottom of the heating coils. (Note: It may look different than the original, but insturctions enclosed with replacement cover that) Might as well replace the evaporator thermister at the same time, as your problem is about 98% of the time one or the other of those parts. The thermister is a white pencil shapped item, about an inch long, located cliped to the top of the cooling coils you just defrosted.
If you don't have the parts on hand, defrosting only will get your refrig working again for several days, while you obtain the parts.
Note: non-water dispensing is the result of the cold air from the freezer not being able to continue over the frost blocked coils, so it migrates back though the return air vent in the bottom of the refrig, resulting in a frozen water line, and often freezing in the bottom bin of the refrig.

I have Maytag refrigerator model MZD2752GR. Water leak from under the refrigerator for about 5 min a few times every day. What is the solution to this problem?

There is no one solution to this. It come from a variety of ways. For example a crack in the defrost condensate pan. Or a leak in a water supply line. The way you described it is almost on a cycle basis so I believe it is more of the leaking condensate problem. I would like you to look inside the freezer and fresh food section bottom near crisper and look for condensate buildup inside these areas condensate in freezer would appear as too much frost on items in freezer and fresh food compartment like moisture collecting on walls and shelves. Do that and let me know what you see. Pull front kick plate in front off and pull away from wall. Remove rear cover on compressor area. I will return soon, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Kenmore Refrigerator, water forming on glass shelves then freezing, little ice around the thermostate gauge area, banging sound once in a while.

next time send model number and say where the freezer is located top, bottom side by side,if it's a top mount, could be blocked drain, take back wall off in freezer, melt out ice under the evap coil with hair dryer, then i use a steamer to clean out drain line, slime forms in the drain and usually has to be blown out if you have some kind of plastic water line or something you can stick in and blow out that line,or try pooring hot water down drain, after you get it to drain call the local parts store and get a heater probe, this will keep the line from clogging in the future, hope this helps

The defrost cycle drain is most likely plugged/frozen. The drain normally leaves the bottom to a drip pan at the back of the freezer. To fix it. Unplug the unit. Take out the freezer shelves. you will see some removable panels at the back of the freezer. take out the screws and take the panels off. be careful the panels interlock.

What you are going to see is a coil, defrost fan on top. The drain is in the bottom. Will be iced over hard to see. Using a hair dryer, melt the ice, both on top of the matal pan and underneath it. when you can see the holes, keep the hair dryer warming. eventually you will be able to get a small screwdriver into the hole. Be careful not to mess anything up. After the plug is melted cleared from inside the freezer, go to the back of the freezer and remove the motor cover. clean the whole thing out with a vacuum cleaner while you are there. again be careful. The drain line will slip off the from the outside, turn it and use you mouth to blow it out. Put the back cover back on.

I would plug it in, see if it all works before I closed it up. Be careful.
Go back to the inside, replace the panels and the shelves.

Water leaking onto floor

Angels, sounds like your defrost drain is frozen over. When the refrigerator is going into defrost it's draining through the front instead of the drain pan. You can remove the shelves and peel off the back cover and clear the drain by pouring hot water on the frozen drain hole. If you have a baster of some sort you could try to squirt the hot water through the venting on the bottom of the panel. Another way to to point a hair dryer on the drain hole. The best method is to remove the shelves and panel and make sure the drain is clear. Catriver..post back.
