Question about Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum (230100037) Video Capture
When I record VHS video tapes onto my computer, the audio lags behind the video by several seconds. I can't find anything in the troubleshooting or help menus to help correct this.
I have always had this problem with Pinnacle V9.4. I had to purchase an update from them that allows one to lock the sound and/or vision. It then becomes V188.8.131.52
I usually lock the vision and move the sound track left (because it is late) by the required amount. It seems to vary between about 0.1 & 0.5 secs.
However, there is anothr way! I also have an audio program on my PC called MAGIX. If I set that to capture audio as I do my VHS tape (or any other analogue video input), I get the sound track there to edit (stretch and otherwise condition). I can then import this to the second audio time-line in Pinnacle. I can suppress the original sound and drag this new sound track until it syncs.
Beware that the Pinnacle time-line ruler is not accurate to the milli-second.
Does that help?

All you need to solve this problem, is a capture card with combined video & audio inputs.
in XP go to control panel- multimedia and set the audio capture card as default.
do not use your pc sound board as audio rec device!!
if your capture device has no audio input,
buy a new device!

I have tried several versions of Pinnacle products over the years, and have had serious problems with ALL of them. Constant crashes, re-boots, glitches, dropped frames, etc. Sound lagging behind the picture is one of many problems, and can be avoided only be capturing short clips and editing them together. A real pain. i finally gave up on Pinnacle and bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. It has a longer learing curve than Pinnacle, but in the long run it has more features and is very stable. Sony Vegas also works with Vista. Pinnacle 10 does NOT, depsite what Pinnacle and the salespeople tell you.
