Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

5G 80 GB iPod has 2 Problems

MY iPod has 2 problems.  The first is that sometimes when I turn it on to play a song or an audio book, no sound comes from the headphones.  The display counts as if it is playing and the progress bar works as well.  The other issue is that often when I first turn it on, it will play for 30 seconds to 3 or 4 minutes and then abruptly stop, returning to the top level menu.  Resetting the unit normally will temporarily fix both problems, but recently, the second problem persists even after a reset.  I have restored it through iTunes and am using the latest version of software (1.3).  My library is on a current iMac running the latest update to Leopard.  I'm tempted to just take it in for repairs since it is still under warranty.  Any ideas?

Thanks but the 5 R's didn't work.  I have it in for service now.  We'll see what the diagnosis turns out to be.  thanks.

I don't understand what you are saying.  You were being helpful in offering the 5r solution path and I appreciate you doing so.  The solution path did not solve my problem, though.  Does that clear it up?

80 gb ipod gets 160 songs then dies what do i do??

Hi,

Check to see if the files are in the proper format to play in the iPod. If they are not, they will not load.

I would also check to see if the hard drive is working properly. It sounds like it is not. When you connect it to iTunes, check to see how much space there is. There are probably bad sectors on the hard drive that has limited the usable space on the hard drive. . Hope that helps.

Ipod Video 80 gb loads song but does not play

You might just have to convert the songs into a format that the ipod can read and play. Under itunes, just right click on a song that does not play on your ipod and click on the convert to mp3 option. Then transfer the converted songs to your ipod and it should work then.

IPod Shuffle problem

Though I do not have a ipod shuffle, it sounds like you set it to run on "sample" which is a setting to play only a few seconds of the song then stop, are you using any other program besides itunes?
