My Venta humidifier is having a problem. The drum does not turn and consequently the humidity stays the same in my room. The fan unit still works. When I remove the lid and turn the drum manually, it works. But when I replace the lid and turn on the unit, the drum does NOT turn. After several days of seeing the humidity in my room stay unchanged despite the Venta unit running, I did some tests to see where the problem was. I concluded the drum was not turning because I marked the drum and ran the unit for awhile. When I opened up the lid to observe the drum, it was still showing the same mark (it had not turned at all).
-   I have the same problem. Used the water treatment as directed since buying it two years ago. Fan works, drum doesn't turn.-   dittbren

-   Same problem. I have used the water treatment since buying it two years ago. Drum does not turn. Seems like some units may be defective.-   Guest

-   Motor runs, fan turns, but drums do not turn. Have tried to clean [gently] the little fingers that engage the drums and turn them, but without success. I've suggested spraying the fingers with WD40, but my wife vetoed the idea, saying that only the Venta water treatment should be used.

The rubber coupling is slipping. You may have a problem with the gear case; you can get a new one by calling Venta at (888) 333 8218. But it's possible that the rubber coupling is simply not seated properly. Snap the gear box out and make sure the socket is clean. When you put it back make sure that the coupling post is fully inserted in the drive socket. Hope this works for you ... Venta will supply new parts promptly if you decide you need them.
I was having the same problem and all it was was a gaer box. There is a web site that has parts and an online tech support for Venta humidifiers www.ventahumidifiers.com

my model 600 aprilaire humidifier will draw water even when the fan on the furnace is not blowing. If I turn the manual adjustment back to a lower humidity level it will stop it, but I may not know it is running unless I check. Is there a problem with my solenoid?
