When connected the headunit will not operate,, however the small red indicator light behind the removable faceplate is blinking, so there should be power going to it. had a look and couldnt find any fuses or anything of the sort. anyone know what the problem could be?

If the red light is blinking that means you have constant power. Now you need ACC power. Check the fuses in the car.

Stereo shut down

Did you check fuse block in the car as well as the stereo fuses?

When the face plate is down does that model have any indicator lights in the rest of the deck to see if it is getting power? My old ken wood used to have a red light that blinked behind the faceplate.

Pioneer DEH-4100 No power

if you dont have a 12volt power supply, you can test the headunit by connecting your yellow, red, and black wires directly to a car battery. connect the yellow and red wires to the positive terminal and the black wire to the negative terminal. Before doing this make sure the red wire has the small inline resistor supplied by pioneer and the yellow wire has a 10amp fuse.

Daewoo Cd player

The car security is not connected to a head unit. It probably has a small blinking red light on it which blinks when you remove the faceplate and switch the ignition off. This is just an indicator which lets people see that the face plate is removed.

You can replace the headunit with any brand/model you want. It would be cheaper than buying a replacement faceplate.

Little red light under faceplate is blinking but i cannot get it to do anything

The blinking light is the anti theft light. When face plate is off this light always blinks. As far as the system not working, make sure you have power, check with a voltmeter, then check fuses. Check the fuses on the wire harness and also where you connected the power leads to the vehicle. If you have power, make sure that all wires are connected correctly. Also, check the ports on the stereo and gps unit to make sure no pins are bent over. Sometimes this may happen. If all looks good, there could possibly be a problem with the system. Expensive to get fixed, but there are a few guys on ebay that will fix it for around $150. Might be worth it, but you need to talk to them about that.

Faceplate not responding / acting very weirdly

Sounds like a bad connection with the faceplate and the multi connector that the faceplate mates with when closed. check for dirt and bent pins on both connectors. Luck
