Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

Looking for a button for an older, 10-15 years, Amana drop-in range. It is a push button switch but we just need the button. It's all black. I searched all sites(20-25) that I found. Any help would be helpful. She is visiting so I don't have the model number. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jeff

It is in her home that she is selling, so she needs all buttons present. I got a 'appliance parts' order number from Home Depot. Hopefully that will work for her, as she has returned home. Thanks for your help everyone!

Where is the starting capacitor for a amana gas dryer

Dryer motors do not require start capacitors. Their is multiple windings in the motor and a centrifugal switch. When the start button is pushed all of them windings are on and when the motor gets up to speed start winding drops out.

P5H code on an amana oven

This is actually the 'PSH' error code which stands for 'Push To Start'. If you do not press the start button within five seconds of a command that will display telling you, that you forgot to PUSH the Start button. If it is randomly showing up by itself you have a defective touch-pad

I dropped a jar on the ceramic cooktop now the hot surface light will not go off

Each element contains a sensor that activates an attached switch to the hot indicator light. The shock of the dropping jar may have damaged the switch. The associated element will have to be replaced.

I have a Broan Elite 2736 downdraft range fan that is 3 years old. Upon using it , it started to go up and then down without stopping until I unplugged it. I replugged it in and it continues to go up and...

Broan model 2736A won't stay up

In my case, I pushed the button, the housing goes fully up, then right back down. I removed and disassembled the unit for cleaning. After Assembly I located two microswitches that cause the extension moror to stop at the top and at the bottom of the swing. In my case, the inertia of the motor caused the unit to "Coast" thru the top of the stroke and continue back down. I bent the outer 1/3 of the metal tabs that depress the microswitches so that the unit stopped rising a wisker sooner and no longer goes back down without pushing the button. The same coasting theroy may apply at the bottom of the stroke. The motor that runs the up and down motion is controlled by three switches, the two limit switces plus the momentary push button switch. If you don;t need to completely remove your unit for cleaning, the microswitchs can be located by removing the fan housing and looking up from inside the cabinet (under the stove) on the right side. IN my case, there was 10 years of goop to be removed.

I have to manually get drum turning...

Yes, there is a "startup" switch. It's the button you push on the panel (but I'm sure you know about that).

This switch energizes the start winding in the motor -- when the motor gets up to speed, a centrifugal switch in the motor disconnects the power from the start winding and switches to the run winding.

Either the start winding is not getting power or the winding is bad. If "no power" is the problem, it could be the button on the panel or a loose/dirty connection between there and the start winding. Lot of possibilities which need to be explored.

But if you know about pushing the safety switch on the door and spinning the drum by hand to get the motor started, you can probably fix this.

Self cleaning oven door locked before I got the door closed.

Try holding in on the door switch while resetting the clean cycle.
This should rotate the latch. Once the cycle starts, cancel it. The latch should go to the unlock position.

You will have to hold in on the door switch during all these steps.

If this does not work, post back with the complete model number from the oven and I will see what else I can come up with.
