Suddnely, tonight, 3 burners on my jenn-air cook top are clicking like crazy when the gas is turned off. The 4th burner has been inoperable for about a year, and it is not affected. They clicked for about 10 minutes before quitting.

HELLO I HAVE MAYTAG GEMINI GAS RANGE IT IS MAKING CLICKING SOUND WANT CAN I DO

The concern is tha the clicking sound is from the igniter for the gas.
It is correct at least in my stove that at the time you are turning on the flame that for a few seconds the stove generates a clicking sound which is actually arcing from a high voltage supply. Once the flame is lit the advancement of the flame control is to a higher flame position -OFF that of the start, is when the clicking should stop. There is no reason to leave the igniter on for a long time. If it does stay on all the time then that is a service issue that should be addressed. igniter devices can be expensive to replace- they are NOT continuous operational parts.

3 of 4 knobs do not compress to turn on gas

You must replace those controls. Cleaning or loosening them up would be temporary at best and the next time they stick it could be in the open position. Safety first...Eric

Burner not working

Sometimes there is "leak" on the cable - the insulation breaks down some place else some the clicking sound is heard but no lighting. Look to see if the arching is at the electrode beside the burner - if it is then try cleaning the electrode and the areas around the burner so as to give better conduction to thr frame o the stove

Spark ignitor won't stop clicking

Dry the ignitors and see if that works. If not, then get new ignitors.

Igniter continuously clicks

I had this problem. It was caused by the burner "thinking" the flame had turned off--it was clicking because it was sparking to re-start the flame from the gas. I was able to fix it by tightening a flat, thin nut at the top of the burner.

Igniter will not turn off once burners are lit.

I've had the same problem for 2 years. Today I removed the four burner tops, the 15/16 inch bolt that holds the burners in place, took everything apart (simple connections underneath), completely cleaned and dried eveything. I also cleaned the 4 knobs and making sure the 4 swiches slide up and down freely then dried everything with a hairdryer. Is now works fine but if the problem comes back, I'll simply unplug the cooktop and light it manually. P.S. I stripped one of the large 5/16 inch bolt that had become weak and brittle. - Try using water or some liquid to loosen the bolts as necessary. Good luck, CHEERS!
