Help me with scanner error 8 0n HP laser jet 2727nf

This unit is dead and not worth fixing. That error indicates that the formatter has failed and when that happens it burns the drive motor in the scanner out. Open the top and smell near the narrow slit of glass and you will smell burned electrical smell.

U broke it! If under warranty see if they will exchange it - hopefully it will not show the ravages of the fall because warranties do not include abuse or dropped units.

If the rod broke you are a goner. Time for a new machine. A photo would help.

I dropped my ignition key and it broke in half, can I still get a copy made with the two pieces?

This happened to someone I know. They actually took it to an expert and they got it fixed with just the two pieces!...Sounds difficult but hey, it's worth the shot. Or else you'll need to replace the ignition cylinder. Hope this helps.

My hp laserjet 4600dn is showing an error message 51.2k

I finally got the courage to keep going, and got the laser/scanner out. I swapped it with the Magenta laser, and sure enough, the same error came up with M instead of K. So, I got ready to order a reman'ed laser/scanner, and was just about to click "checkout," when I figured I'd tinker with the bad scanner. I took it apart (I know, no user serviceable parts), and spun the laser by hand. There was the screeching noise! So, I removed the motor board by removing the 4 screws and the cable, then took some light oil, and a toothpick. I dropped the slightest bit of oil on the spindle on the top, and on the inside where it spun on the spindle, and spun the laser around by hand a few times... Then I inverted the assembly, and spun it around some more. Then I reassemble the laser/scanner module, cable, and then cover. I put the l/s back in, and with everything off, turned the printer on, forcing it to go through a cold reset. And sure enough, I've got my printer back!

Line showing in copy

You may have broken the lens inside the scanner when you dropped it and that line you are seeing is a crack. I would suggest recalibrating the scanner from within the Custom Setting of the twain interface with a blank white sheet of paper. That may help with the line and quality but that is about the only thing you can do.

Broken zoom

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but they're worth a try:
