The dispenser front "pops" off by inserting a screwdriver under he dispenser front, look closely youll see 2 little slits where ot insert and twist from. as your inserting and twisting would be helpful to be pushing down on the top of the facade.(just plastic tabs holding on care full not to break. its pretty apparent after that. when re-installing Hang over the top and kinda give it a good smack down with the heel of your hand... but honestly before all that look at the wires under the door hinge make sure there are no cut wires. ( a natural pinchpoint created by the hinge mechanism)

No water and ice dispensing

most dispensers have a hidden lock button that may be set the lock button is a child safety feature, despite that could be the door switch since they wont dispense with the door open or perhaps could be the switch on the dispenser cradle

How do i access the ice dispencer door in the door? The door is stuck open and freezes up the dispencer.

1. Disconnect the unit from the electrical
supply and wait for 3 to 4 hrs to get ice melted.
2. Pull out and unclip the drip tray on the ice
and water dispenser compartment.
3. Remove the screws from the ice and water
dispenser compartment front panel and
turn it over. The selector switch pack and
dispenser switches are now accessible for
testing.

My whirlpool stopped making ice cubes , water dispenser is o.k. and water to ice cube pan (rubber tube) won't stop running (leaking)

You are going to have to check the water solenoid to see if it is operating correctly. The solenoid operates from the AC power through a micro switch on the rotating cam. When the switch operates the solenoid is jerked out and allows water to flow. When the switch opens (timed to fill up the ice tray) spring pressure snaps the solenoid shut blocking the water flow. If the solenoid valve sticks in the open or partially open position, it allows water to leak by.

Whirlpool Gold Side By Side Ice Dispenser Problems

Instead of what you think the sound is, try and see what is happening when you actuate the ice lever. open freezer door, depress the door light switch, or tape it closed. now actuate the ice dispenser lever, does the flapping door open, that which opens to allow ice from bucket into your glass? Now look at the bucket itself, do you see the gears rotating? remove the bucket from the door, and repeat, do you see the auger shaft rotating?

Either of these are a complex repair, one I would not recommend DIYers to try on their own, for they require taking the door apart, and if not done right, your door may not close properly. Normally I have no problem advising a repair, but there are some i dont, this icemaker system, and compressors.

Open the door and hold the door switch down and try the ice dispenser. Do you hear any thing. Take all the ice out of the bin and try. Anything? Take the bin out and try. Anything? The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter. If your are, probably bad motor. If not dispenser switch.

WHIRLPOOL ICEMAKER DESPENCER STOPPED WORKING.

It is either the motor going bad or the switch at the ice lever. The little micro switch that is activated by the ice lever is likely held in place by two little, week, plastic pins. They break easily. After one pin breaks, the switch can still be close by the lever, but it is hit and miss. It is a ****** to replace the bracket unless you have some experiance. One other long shot would be the freezer door light switch that shuts power off to the dispenser when the door is open.
