Fax has stipe down middle

Check your flat bed and Document feeder scanning glass need to be clean, if any dot or dust in scanning glass of document feeder it will appear a line, check this points first
1- Check printouts from computer or FAX if it is clean problem in scanning section
2- Check using Copying a blank paper using only Flatbed if it prints without any line its problem from document feeder Scanning glass
So solution is clean the Document feeder scanning glass using wet cloth, note careful about wet cloth switch off the machine and clean it

Generally this problem is due to the the glass under the lid being dirty. Some combo units have 2 scanning areas, the large one you are using to copy ans a small one it runs the faxes through. I suggest you clean any and all glass you can find on the machine and give it another go.

The receiver of my FAXes says that there is a black line down the middle of each page. The FAX is a good copy-clear, etc.... but this line has to go. What can I do? Thanks, Donna

When a document is scanned from the top portion of the printer, it will loop around and output from underneath. The scanning glass on the far left side will have some debris on it. Lift the the lid exposing the glass portion, inspect for "stuff" on the glass, perhaps pen or white out. You can use a mild soap and lightly dampened cloth to remove any debris.

You must clean the glass strip that the origional passes over to be scanned. You may have White-Out or an Ink smuge on it. Another way to determine if it is your FAX is to put in an original and make a copy. If the line is on your copy than it is your scanner **** (glass).

Try printing out a report. If the line is still there you need to use the wire cleaner on your print cartridge or if that doesn't work, replace the drum unit.

lift the auto feeder and clean the scanner glass that your pages scan across -it is dirty. You can make a copy afterward and this will tell you if you have solved the problem.

usually something on scan glass..ord lamp is bad..try coping blank paper..if line shows up...check glass clean and try again..

If you make a copy, does the copy have dark areas down the middle of the page? If so, remove the toner cartridge and gently roll it around to redistribute the toner inside, maybe even replace the toner cartridge if you've had it a long while. If you still see unevenness, you may need to have the machine looked at.

If the copies you make on your machine look fine, then I would suspect that the person sending you the fax has a dirty scanning element. Check with them to see if they can clean the scanning element and it should improve the fax quality.

I had the same problem, and I just fixed it.  It was a tiny little black dot which was stuck to the glass where the document feeder passes the paper to.  First you need to figure out where the line is on paper with respect to the paper, and just carefully run your finger on the glass to see if there is something on the glass.  I removed it, cleaned the glass, and anything which I run through the document feeder is now fine.  Hope this helps.

Can't image it being anything but scan glass, if prints are fine, are you sure you cleaning scan glass(inside of where originals are fed)?

If so then scanner lamp faulty, but I've never come across it myself on this model.
