First of all, did you install a desktop theme from an internet site? What did you do, for your theme to turn sideways...and have you thought of doing a system restore, to a date prior to your theme turning sideways>
Are you running windows XP?

My screen turned sideways

go to Control panel, and find Graphics / Video icon e.g. Intel, Nvidia etc.. There is an option to rotate 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. Select that setting until your screen is turned in a normal way..

Hp laptop screen gone sideways & mouse not working

Right click on an empty spot on the desktop, scroll down to the graphics control panel, this may be Ati or Nvidia. Open the control panel amd look to the choices on the left. There will be a choice to either "Rotate Display" or something about "Screen Orientation", change the rotation to "0" degrees or whatever puts it upright.
