GE Microwave JES1334WD Code -P3-

GE Microwave JES1334WD started showing a code -P3- after use this morning. Unplugged for 10 minutes then plugged in. All lights on panel came on then it beeped loudly several times and showed code -P3- again. Owner's manual does not show any codes. The door is firmly closed. The 3-prong plug is in a 3-hole receptacle; no 3-prong to 2-prong adapter is being used. When the panel first lights up there is a CODE on the top line of items. How do you get into the codes? What does a -P3- mean? Thanks for your help. BJ

You're correct - it's a -F3- code. You're comments are very detailed and I appreciate you're taking the time to try to help with this problem. I've tried other electrical plugs in various rooms; same results.
What causes a 'shorted keypad'? There were two ceiling fans running and 2 clocks plugged in - even the toaster oven and computer were unplugged at the time this happened. No lights or timers were being used.
    Thanks. BJ

Are you sure it's not F3? That would be a shorted keypad ("membrane panel").

That's usually not too big a job for a DIYer, but if you'd like, we can do that for $39.95 plus parts.

If you or someone you know decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

One good test is (with power unplugged) to unplug the keypad, then plug the oven back in and see if the error code shows up.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. It's very helpful when troubleshooting.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

    .
P3 may be a defect in the temperature sensor, and this would only apply to a model with convection cooking, which I believe model JES1334 does not have. If I'm wrong, please reply back.

My GE Microwave JES1344SK is showing the code -F3- on the digital screen and it beep three times every 30 second, the microwave won't start and any of the fuctions is working I need some help on t

An F3 code means that the touch pad has a short. The touch pad needs to be replaced. If you purchased the microwave new, get your receipt and the unit serial number and contact GE for the repair (1-800-GE-CARES). See http://repair.geappliances.com/ to find a repair center near you. There is a one-year parts and labor warranty on this part. You will need to get the unit to the GE Repair center at your own expense. (I'm assuming that the unit wasn't shorted by a lightning strike or other disaster.)

I hope this helps.

My microwave/convection oven (a GE unit model JES1290SK) started beeping every few seconds and displaying F6 on the control panel. I unplugged it and waited several minutes and when plugged in it displays...

The technical sheets in my files do not list F6 on the error code chart for GE microwaves.

Generally, these are the error codes possible on GE microwaves:

F1 open thermal sensor (convection models)
F2 shorted thermal sensor (convection models)
F3 key panel shorted for more than 60 seconds
F4 open humidity sensor
F5 shorted humidity sensor

There should be a "mini-manual" (technical sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

GE countertop microwave shows "F3" on display, won't work

F3 on a GE means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

There are two ways to fix this model, either replace the membrane keypad which is a lot of work (handy guide with pictures) or to replace the complete controller.

It's probably not going to be economical even to repair it yourself if you or a friend want to. It depends on the model:

JES1334WD001
JES1334WD01
JES1334WD02
JES1334WD03
JES1334WD04

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

I looked up parts prices for the -02 verison.

ref # 38 part number WB27X10554 membrane keypad $69.71 here (compared to $112.50 direct from GE!)

ref # 42 part number WB07X11076 complete controller assembly $131.01 here (compared to $196.25 direct from GE!)

Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combination MH3184XPS-0 (October 2004), for no reason at all, this morning keeps beeping and running the power setting down from 10 to 1, and just keeps doing it in rapid sequence....

Ours just started doing this exact same thing this past Friday - 12/11/09. What's going on? The cook power just starts beeping all by itself and going from 10 down to 1 over and over again. It may stop momentarily, but then starts again within a minute or so - it's constant until we unplug it. We plug it back in and within a few minutes it starts doing it again. What gives?

After an electric storm our microwave started beeping..we unplugged and turned off the electricity, but it still persists..is there a fuse or something that needs replacing?

It may need a good reset - by being unplugged for a few minutes then plugged back in.

Otherwise, to allow us to help you effectively (at no charge), please post a NEW problem to FixYa, and please include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on the unit, your symptoms, as well as the answers to these questions:

- Is the display normal?

- Is there any error code on the display?

- Does the oven respond to a key press?

- Does the oven work otherwise?

Been cursed with the 666's

You have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

Beeping and P3 shows

I would assume that trouble code is F3?

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

If the oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.
