It sounds to me like your USB mouse is not USB2 compatible. Use it while it is connected to the USB3 port. Did it at one time work in the USB2 port?

Mouse & keyboard not working

You're "stuck" -- if the circuitry for the PS/2 keyboard and mouse is not working, and if it does not recognize a USB keyboard, the motherboard must be replaced (by an identical moetherboard, if you can find one, or a "newer/better" motherboard that takes the same CPU and RAM as your current motherboard).

Are you using an USB mouse? If so you may like to try another USB port or there might be some wire to the USB port not plugged right. You can check the printing on the motherboard to see how it should be plugged. (There is several wires for each USB port with a certain order into an plug on the motherboard when the USB port is not on the motherboard). You can check the power and make sure it is connected well and enough for everything. Other options will be to use other mouse like wireless mouse or PS/2 to USB converter to make a PS/2 mouse an USB mouse or vice versa. Checking motherboard and measuring every voltage could be very complicated.

A lot depends on where the keyboard and mouse are plugged in. I have seen in the past that the USB in the back works better than the front. Are these the original keyboard and mouse? If not, use the original until after Windows loads the desktop.

USB Keyboard will not access BIOS.

Hi there.
Get the PS/2 keyboard and go back into the bios, make sure all the USB controllers are set to "enabled", save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and your USB keyboard should now work and you will be able to access the bios using the USB keyboard.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

see the very first thing is that what u can try is that try and connect the same mouse that u had and that had worked and if works then the prob is with the mouse that u have right now and if that also doesnt work then the usb port on the laptop has gone bad and u need to replace the motherboard of the computer but before replacing the motherboard try and connect some other usb device on the same usb port.........

nope..you can try to boot from an installtion cd..but without HI options(Human Interface) you may find it's locked..sounds a lot like the Motherboard went south.

You could try to reseat the memory, but that's a low probability approach to this sort of problem
