Buslink UII-250 not recognized any longer after fall

I was copying photos to the drive and during the copying , the drive fell off of the desk and disconnected from the computer. I reconnected but since the occurance, I haven't been able to see the drive on my computer. Hardware manager says it's unrecongizable and no driver is installed. I went to the website and downloaded the driver and executed the executable but still have no success. Any suggestions??

I have a THREE hundred gb drive and it just went today setting on table. Never been dropped. Yours would have gone anyway. I know someone else who had same problem. It seems to be the BUSLINLK name.

I have the same problem, I've had my Ull-250 for a couple of years hae loaded it up with all sorts of info then all of a sudden my computer stop reconizing it. I get "i/o error". This is the last time I will buy a buslink. It seems as if this problem is typical for this brand. Im going to take it in and hope I can get the information off of it...

I suggest that your hard drive is comatose, from a severe office concussion. Take it to the emergency computer service dude nearby, and hope, cross your fingers, that the data is recoverable.

I doubt you will be able to do it , the hard disk inside it got damaged. But you have nothing to lose trying: take out the hard disk and install it directly in an desktop - if it's still working then it will appear in Computer - open and copy your files from there.

traditional hard drives are sensitive devices and it is normal for them to fail even after such a shock. It is even recommended to not move a hard drive while it is spinning.

If you do not need the data on this drive, replacing the internal hard drive and then formatting with your operating system is all that you have to do.

If you need the data, you will need to bring the drive to a data recovery center, There is nothing you can try at home without taking the risk of negating any possible chance of recovering the data.

No matter the brand and type of storage device, it is recommended to always have a copy of important data on a different media.

Unknown device after fall

Definately try another PC. If it will read, back up your files and try a reformat. Drive may have mechanical issues though as they are not very stable while the platters are spinning.

Dropped WD My Book 500GB

Sounds like the end. One thing I've tried, with some limited success, is to put the drive in a freezer for several hours. I've had the drives work for a little while; longer if I wrapped them in ice packs. This worked on drives that were working and stopped; I don't know about one that was dropped. Doesn't cost anything; worth a try. One thing; if it does work, get the files off right away. It never works for long.

MyBook Fell Over, Now Not Showing As A Drive Letter

Well if your drive is 6 months old you might have a warranty of 1 year. You can make an online RMA request and tell them the drive doesn't work anymore. You don't have to say you dropped it. Just say it's heavily used and you can almost not live without.

But on the other hand if you tell the truth and want it fixed they can be reasonable and repair it for free. From my work and my private experience with WD they have good service. We sent alot of hdd's as RMA. For them is also good commercial if you tell other people about their service.

good luck. Just try to make a RMA. Nice drive by the way.
