Sony/Veritas Problem

Howdy!
I am having problems with our tape backup system. We are using Vertas,
Backup Exec v.8.50 v.3571 and have a Sony TSL-9000 changer.
The problem is the software is indicating the cleaning tape is offline,
rendering our backups offline.
Anyone know the cause and/or solution to this conumdrum?

FYI, this is a servie problem. The services related to the Backup Exec
need to be stopped, then restarted. The backup software then can
restarted and the problem, as Clouseau would say, is sol-ved.

To my knowledge, the cleaning method by Veritas in earlier versions was not
supported for Sony drives, therefore you simply clean the drive by inserting
the cleaning tape, not running a job. The drive would clean, the okay itself
to be online for backups. I've not encountered this with v8.x though, or a
changer.
