Question about Toshiba e310 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Toshiba e310 turns on by itself

I recently got a used Toshiba pocket PC e310. Everything seems fine with it except it will randomly just turn itself on. Then it turns off because I set it to do that after 1 minute of being idle. Then a few minutes later it turns on again. The result is that the battery runs down sooner than it should. I have tried finding and disabling anything to do with alarms or notifications, but I am out of ideas.

On your device, go to activsync tools/option and click the Schedule tab. Uncheck "When connected to my PC, synchronize with the server every:"

Uncheck " When not connected to my PC, synchronize with the server every:"

It turns itself on in an attempt to synchronize with a server.

The e310 can't use USB power to charge through the cradle. (It needs more than USB specs allow.) You have to supply +5v DC to the connector at the cradle or the e310 itself. Positive terminal is the center pin/hole, negative terminal is the outside barrel of the plug.

Won't turn on

The also needs to charged using a DC adapter. Not through the USB connection. They can be plugged in using a cradle or directly.

My Toshiba e310 turns on by itself

It could be a piece of software that you have recently installed "activating" your PDA. I had this problem after installing a program that, amongst other things, monitored battery life. Once i uninstalled it it was fine so whether that was just a big coincidence i dont know.

IPAQ turns itself on

Go to the ActiveSync options of your pocket pc and to go to Mobile Schedule and choose "Manually". I think it's set to sync automatically in a few minutes that's why it turns itself on.

Toshiba Pocket PC e310 is shipped with an Enabled security feature, which switches off the batteries. In order to be able to turn on the unit, the Battery Switch must be in a battery "Supply" position. Please check if the Battery Switch is in a Stop position or Supply position. The Battery Switch can be found on the lower left edge of the unit, next to the "Cradle Connection Port". Please see the below diagram The Battery Switch supplies or stops power to the Pocket PC. When using the Pocket PC for the first time, slide this switch to the left with the stylus pen. If you have further questions, please refer to the Instruction Manual page 2-3 (19 of 104).

PDA e310, e330 or e740 together with Windows NT 4.0

The Toshiba Pocket PC's e310, e330 and e740 are designed to work together with Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Millennium, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Microsoft Windows NT4.0 is an older operating system, which does not work together with the Toshiba Pocket PC's e310,e330 and e740. Technical background: The Toshiba Pocket PC's have a USB and a Infrared interface to communicate with a Computer. Unfortunately, Microsoft Windows NT4.0 does not support USB nor Infrared. Windows NT supports a serial connection, but the serial interface is not available for the Pocket PC's e310,e330 and e740. Note: There is the possibility to synchronize a PDA over Network or Modem but the ActiveSync Software, which is responsible for the synchronization, will need a "first sync" to establish a "partnership" with the PDA. This "first sync" can only be done via USB.
