Question about Zoom X6 (5590) DSL Modem (55900003)

Zoom X6 internet light constantly red

Hi. My Zoom X6 internet light is constantly red, all other lights go steady green. I am trying to use it with a wireless laptop (it recognised the router, connected to it ok, but no internet connection). It is not the laptop, as it connected this way before to the internet at other places away from home. Not the line either, as I had an adsl working on a wired computer for years (and still does, though I switched off and disconnected when trying, so it didn't affect the X6 in some way). I followed the setup instructions, with the 10.0.0.2 browser etc, entered ISP details, setup wireess - nothing turns that light green!! please help, thanks.

The internet light, is usually a blinking green, showing that it's seeing the internet signal. The only reason it's red, is cause there's no net signal..double check the phone line going into the back of your router, and change it if you need to.

try to check the status of the lights on your modem. Try to check the light in globe icon, that is the icon for your Internet status, if is GREEN it mean to say that it has connection. When it turns to RED, check the DSL light if it is in SOLID GREEN, When it blinks try to check it with your Service provider.

I have the Zoom X6 (5590) DSL Modem, trouble using software


You may check the following:

1. Make sure to plug the power cube into a power strip or wall outlet and then plug the power cube's other end into the modem's power (PWR) jack.

2. You should only use the power cube with the Zoom X6. Other power cubes may damage your hardware.

3. Try another wall outlet.

4. Reset the modem. Use a paper clip and insert it into the RESET pinhole in the modem's back panel and press it 3 times. Then turn off the modem for a minute and turn it back on. Check if the power light will turn solid green.

5. Possible defective modem.

DSL Flashing


You dont need both. Do the following:
Unplug your speedtouch from the phone line at the back of the speedtouch unit. Plug that cable into your Zoom. Then plug one end of an ethernet cable into router and one end into your PC. Type http://10.0.0.2 into a web browser (eg. Firefox or Internet explorer) username/password is admin/zoomadsl go to basic setup and input your ISP username and password (the one given to you by your internet provider) under PPP. Click configure my connection. Save changes and then write to flash (both buttons on bottom of page)

X6 won't pick up DSL


hopefully you haev installed the software first on yoy computer>
turn off the computer. connect the phone line one end to the ethernet port on your computer and the other end to one of the LAN port on the x6.
power up the (power cube shipped with the X6), the Pwr and the WLAN should come on and become steady, the LINK light should blink,
turn on you computer, connect a new phone line between ADSL port and the wall jack, the LINK light should become steady.

Installion of x6


Contacted the company who gave the good advice of changing the DPI settings and also showed us 2 different ways of how to do it. For anyone who has the same problem try right clicking the desktop and click on personalise, adjust font size to default and save,. Alternatively click start, control panel, appearance & themes, change screen resolution, settings, advanced, DPI to normal 96 DPI and save. Thanks for your help we will always check this site if problems in future.

Zoom X6 installation


you need a ethernet network card, if you want it connected to the x6 directly, or you can get a wireless card for the desktop.
the instruction for setup the x6 is straight forward. but you need to follow it to the letter, otherwise it won't work.

INERNET LIGHT STAYS RED


The Internet light changing from green to red means that the connection to the net is unstable. There is a possibility that the device is not configured properly or it already is a problem on the device.

You can try to reset the device and reconfigure it. Just make sure to back up your settings so that you can easily reconfigure your former settings. If that does not work, a firmware upgrade can be done to address this concern.

Internet light turned red and won't change back to green


Hi,

If the Internet is red, this may be because of problem with authentication. Please pull the configuration page of modem and check whether the username/password are correct.

zoom x6 in full bridged mode Good Morning all, I have searched google and these forums, but can not seem to figure out what is going wrong with my port forwarding. Problem: Can not ssh to internal server. Setup: ADSL WAN line connected to the RJ11 jack on my Zoom x6 (model 5590C). Zoom router is currently set to FULL Bridged mode. Cat6 cable is connected to Port 1 on the Zoom router, the other end of the cable is connected to the WAN port of my WRT54GL (running Tomato v1.23). Other linux boxes are connected to the LAN ports of the WRT54GL. I am able to see the Internet from all computers on the Local Lan inside of the WRT54GL. In Tomato I see the Public WAN IP that is being passed to it via the Zoom router. WAN IP: 9x.xx.xx.xx LAN IP: 10.xx.xx.xx/28 LAN DHCP: is on and working correctly. Port forwarding->Basic->Has the following (lets use port 55555): On |||| Proto |||| Src Addr |||| Ext Prots |||| Int Ports |||| Int Addr |||| Description X |||| TCP |||| [left blank] |||| 55555 |||| 55555 |||| 10.xx.xx.14 |||| ssh server Now I have no special Iptable rules added to the WRT54GL as of yet... since I can't ssh in yet either.. The server have port 55555 entered in its /etc/ssh/sshd_config and I can access this by all computers on the internal LAN, so the server config is good. But I cannot access anything if I am coming in thru the WAN. nmap shows that all normal ports are filtered, which is good, but if I run: nmap -P0 -sV 9x.xx.xx.xx -p55555 The reply is also filtered. When I try to ssh to my WAN IP from the WAN it times out. Tomato logs are not seeing the attempted scans, though iptables is reporting 'DROP's from other things on the Internet. When I dump the Tomato Iptables config it appears to be right to me and unfortunately I did not bring a copy of them to work with me today. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything that I need to explain further or that is not clear in my post? ANY input on this would be GREATLY appreciated, even if its just a link to something that might help. Thank you all in advance!
