Question about Haier GDZ5-1 Electric Dryer

Vent - what the ???

I have never seen a clothes dryer with a vent before I came to India and have been using them pracitally my whole life in Australia. We are renting an apartment and I not prepared to cut holes in walls etc. Is this vent thing really nesessary? Do they make normal driers here. I have never had a drier heat up or burn down anything and they are always kept in closets etc.

If we don't connect the vent will it have any adverse affect.

thank you

That's funny. In the USA, I've never seen a dryer that did not have a vent.

Maytag model #: med5770tq0 won't dry. Please help

Dear Emily.
Several problems.
First, did this dryer ever work properly hooked up as it is?
I mean hooked to the roof event?
If it used to work just fine, then I suspect the vent to the roof is clogged with lint and is not allowing the heat to escape.
If it never did work right,(for example: it is new to us) then I'd venture dryers are not supposed to vent their hot air that far away, they do not have a strong enough blower to push that air that distance.
Then, you might try to find another place to vent the hot air, with a total distance of only 10 feet from the dryer, even if you only vented it while you were actually drying clothers.
I doubt if the last item is for you, but I have sometimes seen where the washing machine did not spin all the water out of the clothes, and then the dryer needed all day to get the clothes dry.
Be blessed.

My dryer leaves the clothing semi damped rather than completely dry like it used to. So now we have to run the cycle twice to obtain the results we want.

Greetings,
here is a quick way to see if its your dryer or vent...disconnect the vent from behind dryer and let blow without being hooked up. Now, wash some clothes and using caution not to overload the dryer and check it again after a normal dry cycle. if ok , the vent is blocked somewhere from dryer to outside vent. if still not working with vent disconnected. There is a problem with dryer...you will most likely find a blocked vent.....Bruce Denton...if I'm correct, please advise if your satisfied...thank you

We have a combo dryer and washer. Washer is A2444330KH. Leaves lint on cotton shirts, have cleaned the filter no help. Any ideas? David

Dryer lint not only presents a problem by cluttering up your clothes with white specks, but it can also lead to a dryer fire. While it is impossible to completely eliminate dryer lint, you can take action to drastically reduce lint and the potential problems that come along with excess dryer lint. If your clothes take more than one cycle to dry, you see no lint on the lint screen, the clothes are very hot after drying or you find excess lint on the clothes after drying, you probably have a problem with accumulation of dryer lint in the dryer vent.
Use a dryer vent cleaning brush and clean the dryer vent, or hire a professional to clean the exhaust vent behind your dryer. If your dryer vent is clogged, it will create excess dust in the dryer and on the clothes. The excess lint can eventually catch on fire given the heat load of the dryer.

My whirlpool AWZ510E washer dryer - the dryer doesn't seem to be working - it goes through the cycle but the clothes are still as wet as before. I am using the same cycle as I always have which used to...

there are 3 reasons for a dryer not doing the job yet running through the motions. 1st, the heat is not being produced and only cool room temp air is circulating. this can be a burned-out electric element or an over-heat sensor, or in0line safety fuse. ( if gas, can be ignitor or gas valve coils).. It could be that the washer is not ringing (spinning) dry the clothes verywell and there is too much moisture stiil in clothes which would double the dry time from 50-60 minutes to 2 hours. 3rd, could be clogged vent line and the hot moist air cannot leave the dryer so the clothes get hot by the moisture stays.

Dryer heats, drum turns, hot air circulates, but clothes don't dry

Sometimes blower wheels will get loose in dryers. Sometimes they will get a whole lump of lint in them or you can hear a rattling noise in the dryer, this is the blower wheel, its worn out and it can cause the fuse to blow too,or it can half *** work and take fifty forever's to dry the clothes.Or it could be just that the dryer needs a good blowing out .I use a lawn blower to get all the lint out of the dryer as well as the vent pipe and vent to outside. I take the filter HOUSING out and wash it also. That is, I remove the housing and clean is good! Making sure that the dryer is properly flowing air is a good thing!

i would check air flow out of vent normally with plugged vent extreame amount of moisture is present in dryer on high temperature of air moving through dryer is
max about 140 degrees normally with room temperature arpund 70 the drying time is normally 60minutes or less
contributing factors to long dry time

below 50 degrees remove vent screen inside dryer clean with hot water shine flashlight into vent opening verify not plugged if have candy or probe type
temperature gauge verify temperature

Heater works but clothes do not dry. Very little air flow from vent

Sounds as if there is something (lint buildup maybe) that is blocking the air flow inside this machine. You need to remove the top and front of this machine so you can view in internal working parts. Clean it out the best you can and also remove the rear cover and check where the fan blade is located and this general area. I have seen rats nests built inside the tubes that will block air flow and create a fire hazard.

Dryer does not get hot enough to dry clothes Roper REX4634KQ1 Electric Dryer

The vent may be stopped up, or the vent hose crimped so the air cannot escape, you can check the air flow at the vent on the outside of the house while the dryer is running.
try cleaning the vent and the lint screen with a vacuum cleaner, you may need to replace the vent hose, this should solve the problem
