Please, I need an XP driver for the S3Trio3D/2X (362/368)video card.

  • Anonymous Apr 06, 2010

Thank you but I had already downloaded that very 53005.zip file from the S3 Graphics website before posting my problem. After unzipping the file, I launched the setup.exe program several times, ran the installation wizard, and each time got a message that the driver could not be installed --- No reason given. I have a feeling that this driver was not updated for XP, because it was last revised in June 2000. S3 no longer supports the S3Trio3D/2X card. Somebody out there must have written an upgrade for XP, but after a diligent Google search, I cannot find one anywhere. The sites that Google comes up with are rated untrustworthy and dangerous by Web of Trust warning screens. What do you suggest???

You can download the drivers from S3 Graphics website. Here is the Link http://www.s3graphics.com/en/drivers/legacy_software_archive.aspx
Go to Trio3D/1X-/2X (360,362,368) Drivers Section

I need video card driver for s3 trio3d/2x

First of all you need to know what video card you have. If you have Windows and I assume you do go to Start > Control Panel (switch to classic view) > System click on Device Manager and in the list find 'Display Adapter'. The name of the driver appears. Make a note of it. Go directly to the website of your driver's manufacturer. Follow the instructions to download and install the right driver. Restart your computer to let it take effect.

Warning: this is the manual way to update. If you are not a tech guy, attempting to change video drivers could make your computer inoperable or cause severe problems. As a result, you can rely on a free driver detective software to help fix the driver issue automatically & accurately. This way also saves you time & energy.

Screen transition while scrolling

Seems like a problem with the video card driver. Can you check if Windows is using "Standard VGA Driver" video? (Right click the My Computer Icon, select Properties - Hardware - Device Manager - 2x Click Display Adapter.) If you can identify the video card/chip of your computer (Example Nvidia or ATI), you may need to get the appropriate drivers to optimize your display.

The 4X override and fast-writes can't be supported totally in XP..........

first check the bios version and tyan's compatability site for the video cards support...

if all checks well and the bios has been updated ...

then: try running a ps/2 mouse and verify the usb components is not the error....

be sure you have support for 1.0 and 1.1 usb activated for a mouse support.. and keyboard mouse options on in the bios...

is it a mouse error ... or video card error... check for updates on the manufacturers of the mouse if usb...

there are difrent speeds of AGP port cards.
agp, agp x2, x4, x8

as the connector is difrent on agp 2x and on 4x you will need to look for a card that is made for agp 2x. Im not sure if they make 256mb cards for agp 2x.
