Question about Magellan RoadMate 800 GPS Receiver

2 Answers

It seems to have died.

My roadmate 800 is a little over a year old and seems to have died already. I bought a new battery thinking that was the problem but even that hasn't worked. I tried charging it overnight even with the new battery in but can't even get a led light showing it's charging. I was never dropped, just quit working on me one day.

I don't think there's anything too tricky about plugging in the charger into the little hole. There's a good connection, no reason to think that it the problem. I also checked to make sure the battery is in correctly and it is. Any other ideas?

No I have not done that. How would I go about it? When I hook it up to the USB port my computer doesn't acknowledge it since I can't turn it on? Is there another way to update it?

You may be experiencing firmware update syndrome, where it won't even engage..you updated this yet?

Magellan roadmate 800 won't boot up

Hi,

Try removing the battery and leaving it out for a long time (overnight) and replace the next day and see if that helps.

Magellan 2000 doesn't power up

try replacing the battery. ususally if the battery is dead it will freeze or not turn on. if this doesn't work magellan will replace it with a new one at a very reasonable price. I just replaced a magellan 800 with a magellan 3210 for $132.00. your may get a better deal. call magellan
if you have an a/c 110 volt to 5 volt converter for the magellan, try charging it in the house with that one rather than the car charger.

Magellan roadmate 300 wont stay on

It is the cigarette adapter, mine was doing the same thing until I bought a new adapter. When the old adapter plug to the GPS unit moved at all it would lose power.

Don't buy a Magellan. There is little to no support, and their web based support redirects to no where useful for upgrades. I'd sell you my 4040, but can't in good conscience sell it to anyone.
