DVD-R discs are not as universally playable on all DVD players as are regular home made DVD's. Also, it's possible that -depending on WHAT burner you used to make the copy, and the particular brand of DVD-R your using - that the burners laser may not be strong enough to make an usable impression on your DVD-R, for your DVD to "see."

To get the info from your disc, your DVD player needs to shoot a laser into the burned pattern on the disc, and have it reflect back to the photocell pick-up. If the image was burned in with enough power (many burners can't do DVD-R's) your player will play it fine. If NOT, it won't "see it," OR it'll have SO many errors, it won't be able to retrieve the data so you can see your photos.

DVD (and CD) "R's" are a great idea, but they are not as reliable as regular DVD's and CD's. If yu care about what you're copying, you should use regular discs. By the way, SOME older players won't even like regular DVD's or CD's.

Panasonic cq-dvr909u

according to the manual it does not support cd-r, lemme copy this section right out of the book

The following discs cannot be played back on this product.
DVD-ROM - DVD-R/DVD-RAM - CD-ROM - VSD - CDV - CD-G - SACD - photo CD - CD-R* - some DTS CD discs - CD-EXTRA (audio-only playback possible) - DVDs with a region number other than "1" or "ALL" - discs recorded in PAL format, others.

(* Because this product has its own reading device, CD-R discs can not be played back.)

If i remember correctly somethin about a dual laser in it or somethin, I feel your pain wish it could but it does come with rca aux input that you can do headphone -> rca jack so you can hookup a mp3 player or laptop or whatever
