Question about Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer
Hi, our printer isnt able to properly pick up the paper and print it. paper gets jamed on first paper. what do we need to replace and where do i order that from? thanks
More than likely you need a new pick up roller. It is located at the top of the tray area in the printer. You will see a black rubber roller with white nylon clips on both sides. You can confirm if it is the problem by removing and washing it with soap and water, then clipping it back in and running a few copies.

I have found that Hair Spray has worked the longest for me. Remove the roller hit it with the hair spray. let it dry and reinstall.

We also have had this problem. On the paper tray when it is slid out there is a rectangular button. This should have a metal clip on top of it. If the clip is missing rubber is exposed. So when the roller with the rubber grip grabs the paper the rubber on the button stops the paper from moving. Try putting a piece of tap on the rubber button for a temporary fix, and then order a new paper tray.

There is a rolling mechanism (long bar) in the front that has a rubber grip on it. This sometimes wears out. You can purchase kits for some printers, but an easier route (to try first) is to moisten the rubber grip (it is shaped like a U) with Windex or similar liquid. You need to remove the paper tray, turn printer upside down and try to print something. You can trick the printer into thinking the tray is in place by pushing in the black tab that extends from the metal housing (take out tray and turn over, you will see it is a spring-loaded curved piece). While the roller spins, get it wet.
Another common problem is that the tray itself is sticking. It should, when slid into the printer, pop a small white arm that releases a spring-loaded "ramp" that lifts the paper so it is close enough to be grabbed by the roller.
