More than likely you need a new pick up roller. It is located at the top of the tray area in the printer. You will see a black rubber roller with white nylon clips on both sides. You can confirm if it is the problem by removing and washing it with soap and water, then clipping it back in and running a few copies.

I have found that Hair Spray has worked the longest for me. Remove the roller hit it with the hair spray. let it dry and reinstall.

We also have had this problem. On the paper tray when it is slid out there is a rectangular button. This should have a metal clip on top of it. If the clip is missing rubber is exposed. So when the roller with the rubber grip grabs the paper the rubber on the button stops the paper from moving. Try putting a piece of tap on the rubber button for a temporary fix, and then order a new paper tray.

There is a rolling mechanism (long bar) in the front that has a rubber grip on it. This sometimes wears out. You can purchase kits for some printers, but an easier route (to try first) is to moisten the rubber grip (it is shaped like a U) with Windex or similar liquid. You need to remove the paper tray, turn printer upside down and try to print something. You can trick the printer into thinking the tray is in place by pushing in the black tab that extends from the metal housing (take out tray and turn over, you will see it is a spring-loaded curved piece). While the roller spins, get it wet.

Another common problem is that the tray itself is sticking. It should, when slid into the printer, pop a small white arm that releases a spring-loaded "ramp" that lifts the paper so it is close enough to be grabbed by the roller.

Hello gemma almond,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your question: Your printer will need to be cleaned inside and checked for small shards of paper jammed within the paper feed path.
If you look inside of the printer, you will see small, rubber, feed tires (wheels) that pickup the paper. These tires also ensure that the paper feeds entirely through the printer. These tires can become dry and coated in clay off of the paper you use. Once they become coated, they slip on the paper.
Use a paper towel with Windex or Rubbing Alcohol to clean up these tires and an access ink you see inside of the printer.
This should fix your issue.

Have a great day!

The printer is on and it sounds like it is printing but the paper isnt going through

You must have a worn PICK UP ROLLER or a worn SEPARATING PAD both made of rubber, you could try cleaning them with RUBBER CLEANER (you can use care wiper cleaner pads) both devices are located usually where the paper are fed in the printer, if it works better, you should order a maintenance kit for your printer and replace them...

Good luck!

My printer seem to get paper jam after less than 10 print. How to fix this? I remove the paper and the problem seem to repeat? Is there a need to reset my printer toner? if not what other solution can you...

Hi, where does paper gets jamed? In fuser assy, in pick up assy,...?

If the paper comes out ( from the fixing assy ) bent in the roll that means that the paper is to moisturized.Open fresh pack of paper and try again.Or flip existing paper upside down as firs aid.

Second: open the toner cover and remove toner crg.,than you will se pick up roller which you need to clean by alcohol by means of piece of fabric and dry it out.

Hope that helps!

Paper jamed

Thanks for using FixYa. Perform the steps below in order to solve this incidence:
  1. Disconnect the power cord or power supply adaptor from the rear of the HP All-in-One product.
  2. Remove the paper pack remaining in the input tray.
WARNING - Do not try to remove the jammed paper sheet yet. Trying to clear a paper jam from the front of the device can damage the print mechanism. Always clear paper jams through the rear access door.
  1. Open the rear access door or the two-sided printing accessory.
  2. Gently pull the jammed paper sheet out of the rollers.
  3. If the paper tore when it was being removed from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the device. If not all the pieces of paper are removed from the device, paper jams are likely to occur again later.
  4. Replace the rear access door or the two-sided printing accessory.
  5. Restart the printer to continue the current job.

Load paper

To resolve this issue pick one blank sheet and insert it in the tray and try to print self test page. If the printer prints self test page then load the paper properly and try to print. If self test page won't print then check the paper settings.

My MFC 5890 cn Brothers printer paper keeps getting jamed and won

Hi there,

What kind of paper are you using?

Normal paper or Photo Glossy paper?

If you use Photo Glossy Paper, you have to put at least two sheets of paper. If you read the photo glossy paper instructions that came in the package you will see it.
The package brings one sheet more than mentioned because of this specification.

I have an a1530cs copier. It will not pick up any paper when the button is presseed . it just makes a noise (low vibration) like it is wanting to pick-up .can you please help me?

Most such printing problems stem from incorrect paper types or paper loading. Make sure that your paper is loaded properly, and that the paper type is made for your specific printer.
If paper is not feeding properly into the printer, the problem may stem from hardware failure. Check the feed assembly to see if all the parts are in working order. You may be able to manually advance the paper in order to see which component may be failing. If necessary, clean the paper pickup rollers to make sure the paper path is free of sticky dirt and debris.
