Question about Digital Cameras

Tried to down load pictures from my new A630 to my existing Cannon utilities program. The program would not open. I then took the new Solutions disk and installed the programs. /when the installation was complete I tried to down load the pictures again. When I attemted to down load I got an error message the Zb Module had encountered a problem and had to close. I got the same response when I tried to open the Zoom browser. I tried from the shortcut and by going direct to the programs.

SteveJudy,
Uninstall all utilities related to the Camera in question (via add/remove programs within control panel), re boot, and install the utility from the disk that came with your new A630 and give it another try.
Good luck.

    SteveJudy,
    As for losing your pictures, you could have navigated to the folder containing them and selected all of them and dragged them to another folder that you create or right click and select "Copy" and then pasted them into another folder/location just to be sure.
    Glad you got it and thanks,

Please see that all software is functioning fine; Remove any spy ware viruses and memory consuming programms from your system and see that installation of drivers is proper and your system is recognising the camera;

    Then See the download and interface utilities from Windows or Disc;

    Else try the same on another computer or Laptop;

CAnnon Powershot A630 LCD screen will not light up when trying to take a pic. I can, however view old pics that I've already taken.

First press the DISP or DISPLAY button to see if that corrects the problem. If not, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

How to date stamp a picture in a cannon A630

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

I have a Cannon Power Shot A630 camera but I need a download that will work the camera on a HP computer with Microsoft Vista. Where/how do I get the operating download?

You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa.

Monitor stays black

You may have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD screen on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To try turning the screen back on, press the DISP button once.

Is it possible to make videos with the camera

#1. Yes, if you've correctly installed the Canon solutions disk that came with your camera. Look in your Start menu under Programs/Canon Utilities. Look for a specific program in that folder called "RemoteCapture"

2. Yes again. You'll need an Audio/Video (A/V) cable to do such. One came with your camera (remember the black cable with the yellow plug). Plug one end into the "A/V Out" port on your camera, and the other end into the "A/V Input" on your TV. Put your camera in review or slideshow mode and view it.

The answer to these, and many more questions can be found in your camera's user guide, which may be downloaded directly from Canon (for free) here.

don't think it was the cable, they are a standard usb interface cable.
Had a similar problem, when I installed software for a new camera interface.
