As of late, my freezer, (right side only) has a build-up of ice on the freezer bottom lining and ice accumulates on the roller pull-out section. Then I notice water on the floor. I have defrosted for about 2-3 days then restart the freezer. It works for about 2 months and then it happens as described again. I had a repairman out about a year ago, and he suggested the above. He cleaned the unit, etc at a cost of over $300. I know it was a rip off, but it's happening too often now. Could it be the defrost timer needs to be replaced?

I thinkyou just need to take a look at replacing the defrost timer. Sounds to me as if the defrost timer is malfunctioning. It's an inexpensive part considering the cost of replacing an burned out unit or even a reapirman bill. Check into that first, let me know if you require more assistance.

Gladiator Freezerator wont stay frozen in the bottom portion. It will go to temp when temp is mved, but then start to warm up. Why?

If the bottom freezer section of the Gladiator Freezerator is thawing out the usual cause is from the coils in the back of the top refrigerator section being iced up. The ice blockage prevents the fan from circulating cold air into the bottom freezer section. These units have a design flaw due to the defrost drain freezing up preventing water from draining out from under the coil. The long-term solution is to remove the back wall of the refrigerator section to get to the coil, thoroughly defrost the coil making sure the drain tube is clear, then wrap a couple turns of #12 or #14 copper house wire around the bottom of the defrost heater element and run it a few inches into the drain tube. Advise unplugging the unit when you do this.

I've had this fix on my Gladiator for a couple years and it has been working perfectly ever since. The freezer stays a constant 0 degrees F and no more thawed out food.

Kenmore side by side drain tube in freezer keeps freezing up Any solitons other than to keep thawing out the the every two weeks

try to locate the drain tube on the bottom and blow it with compressed air to clear the way for the condense water to drain out or open the freezer back panel and run hot water to see if it clears.

Fisher and Paykel Fridge/Freezer - Drain Freezing Up

The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the back of the freezer. If this repeatedly happens with yours, you may can prevent it by taking a bare copper wire and wrap it around a fin near the heater and put the other end a few inches down the drain. The heat convection may prevent it from freezing.

Ice build up bottom of freezer and water on floor GE Monogram

I had the same problem. The drain tube is located below the pan below the fins at the rear of your freezer. The drain tube has a trap (s-shaped curve) to prevent air flow out of the freezer. The problem is that water gets in this tube and freezes. I took the sheet metal cover off the back, got a turkey baster and flexible tube, and continuously flushed hot water (after the freezer had been turned off around an hour to thaw). Eventually the plug gave way.

MY GE PROFILE REFRIGERATOR IS WARM, FREEZER IS FINE.

i think its not the frz drain hole blocking up but a fault with the defrost tray heater. the tray heater should keep the defrosted frost as water to drain away. it sounds as though the tray heater is not working therefore letting the water freeze as it is escaping thorough the drain hole. i would check this out by defrosting the unit and inserting a flexi rod into the otherside of the drain hole (above the compressor usually) and after clearing it if it freezes up again check out the defrost/heater system.

most likely the drain is plugged try using some low pressure compressed air to blow out the tube, yes the heater is what defrosts, no hot gas, other than that the icemaker fill tube could be leaking, freezing the drain.

Sub-Zero 550 water leak and freezing

Seems to be a common problem with these units. You can get a drain tube heater ( got mine from an online refrigerator parts distributor), though may not totally solve problem. Some suggest running a copper wire through tube - supposed to conduct just enough heat to keep tube from freezing.
