Question about PC Desktops

2 Answers

I have a D-Link WDA-2320 Desktop adapter for my computer and it has been working fine and now all of a sudden I can't access the internet. My wifes laptop (which I'm on right now) is wireless as well and it's internet connection is working fine so I have narrowed the problem down to the D-link card in my computer. I looked at the back of the tower where the antenna comes out and the Activity and Power buttons are blinking on and off simultaneously.

If you have Blinking light on your d-link wireless adapter, then it is aquiring a IP address from your router. Did you add your d-link adpter to your router? How many computer are accessing your router? Do you have your router set with Encryption code? You might need to change channels. Did you name your (SSID)?

Onboard adaptor hardware failure? Or is it missing Drivers?
Wireless adaptor - did you install drivers for adaptor? Did you check that WiFi on the adaptor is switched on?

On a side note: I've found that USB 2.0 Wireless N adaptors are the best for connectivity, as they have their drivers on the adaptor, are fully plug and play (Vista/7/8 and even some models on XP). I recommend Transcend (brand name).

Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit and No Internet

It sounds to me like you need a new driver for the LAN adapter that is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. Right click on Computer under the start menu, chose manage, and open the Device Manager applet. Look for your network card under Network adapters. Right click on your adapter and click on properties. Go to the driver tab and click on update driver. You can also try uninstalling the driver from there and then have the computer scan of new hardware from the device manager screen and let Windows reinstall the driver. Let me know what you find so I can help you further troubleshoot if this does not fix the problem.

Computer not conecting to internet

If you have not installed the USB adapter driver and configured the wireless network , you need to do that to connect to the internet. Once you have cd and installed the driver , you need to enter Wireless access key or SID to set the adapter to connect .

Internet no longer working, but internal network is fine.

i agree with all the above.. it's definately clear as mud how the network is designed and or funtioning. The machines connected to the wireless d-link router.. are they via cat5 inthe wired ports or wireless ? is the server the machine thats connecting to the switch and wiress router and modem? i'd say reset all switches modems routers and machines.. shut them all down.. then fire the cable modem, then the wireless router then the desktop switch then the server, the workstations and the one lonely wireless.. run "ipconfig /all" on all machines and if they aren't all sharing common ips and access, provide the results here for further investigation.

Try to disable wireless card on your desktop. With both the wireless and cat-5 socket enabled, "WITHOUT" the proper bridge settings, they will conflict and not be able to read.
