Seems to be an issue with the antenna connection inside. Either a short or bad connection. Try to get it working by tapping the unit which may get something connected again. Other people have had this same problem. The device is just defective and if you can replace it, they may even replace it if the warranty is done. Let me know if anything happens with some small taps and whether you want me to give you other things to try or if you are just going to try and replace it but my bet is that the antenna connection has a problem.

Thank you and good luck

the antenna sounds defective because when you are opening it, whatever the metal on the antenna is supposed to touch, it isn't touching. If the signal is as strong as it can be when closed, then that is good, but it is acting weird. Easiest fix would be to replace antenna and see if the new one works otherwise there is probably a loose piece of metal somewhere in the device which will need to be resoldered.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, thank you

Keep the device without power for 10 min then before supplying power press the power button ON for 10 sec, then again leave it ideal for 10 min. Repeat this for 2 times and then resume ur operation.

Thankyou

The unit is appeared to have "stuck" in this acquiring mode, following is the instructions :

    1) open the GPS antenna
    2) press the bottom left screen while holding the power button to turn the unit on
    3) enter maintenace mode
    4) select diagnostics
    5) clear error report, do NOT clear any user data
    6) restart unit the usual way

    Garmin's FAQs.

If the GPS is having issues acquiring satellites
on the dash of the vehicle, the problem most likely is due to the
coating that the manufacturer applied to the windshield. Some cars are
equipped with special windshields that may contain metal in the glass
(metal oxide) that prevents the gps from having a clear line of site to
    the satellites.

Windshields with solar ray glass, solar tint,
heated or heat reflective windshields, and insulated or Insta-Clear
glass may also affect satellite acquisition. If the car has one of
these windshields, an external antenna might be required to receive
satellite signals. If unsure about whether the vehicle has one these
    mentioned features, contact the dealer.

    The other thing you can
try is to close and reopen the antenna. Sometimes that wakes up the
unit, especially if it was turned on when out of satellite site.

Garmin c330 says trouble tracking satelites, not acquiring signal. what to do?

If your StreetPilot c300 or c500 series device is no longer acquiring satellites please read the article linked below to ensure that this is not being caused by something in your environment:

Why won't my unit acquire satellites?

If after reading the above article your unit is still having problems, please ensure that your unit's software is up to date. You can do this by using our WebUpdater® program.

If you have tried all of the above suggestions and your unit is still not acquiring satellites, you can perform a master reset by doing the following:

Note: A master reset will erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your unit to the default factory settings.
  1. Start with the unit powered OFF and unplugged from power.
  2. Touch and hold the bottom right corner of the touchscreen.
  3. Power the unit ON and continue pressing the screen until a new message displays, "Do You Really Want To Erase All User Data?".
  4. Touch Yes and go through the set up again.
Take the unit outside and let it set with a clear view of the sky for 3-5 minutes to acquire satellites. If the unit still does not acquire satellites after this, please contact Garmin Product Support.
