Mac Won't Recognize Mamiya ZD Back

I have a Mamiya RZ67 Pro II, with a newly-purchased ZD digital back.  I am installing the Mamiya Digital PhotoStudio on my Mac, and the computer doesn't recognize the camera when I connect it.  I have been through the trouble-shooting protocols at the back of the book and nothing happens.  The trouble shooting guidelines say to turn the camera "on" but there isn't any on/off switch on the digital back.  I have tried pressing the menu button to get a screen image before I connect the camera, but it doesn't produce anything.  Anyone else reporting this problem?

It is probably the battery. A lot of these cameras have electronically controlled shutters, that automatically fire at the fastest speed possible if there isn't a battery to slow it down.

Can I add a digital back to this camera

It is possible, I've looked into it for my Mamiya 645 Pro and even found a nice used Kodak but bought a Canon IDs Mark II for less money. The backs are hugely priced even used you are looking at $3500.00 or more and if you have a 645E that's way to much money to spend.

Can the pro tl be converted to a digital back?

hasselblad makes a digital back--approximately $20,000 USD (yes, that is 20 THOUSAND) and then you need the adaptor (approx. another $1000-$1500 USD). If you can afford that, why not buy a NEW MAMIYA RZ22 (22 mP) or the 33 (33 MP)? would cost less and already digital.

I have a mamiya RZ Pro two and I am looking to find a digital back for it. If you could offer any guidance and advice I would be very greatful as there seems to be very little help for th RZ film...

Currently . You need a digital back adapter (approx.$1500.00+ US) then the digital back itself (Approx. 25,000+ US). yes that is correct!. THe RZ67 Pro II needs the DM56 adaptor then the DM 56 back itself. Why not check out the all new RZ22 (22mp) or the RZ33(33mp). The RZ22 is approximately $12,000.00 US and the RZ33 around $18,000.00. Hasselblad also make a 39 and a 50mp digital medium format, expect to pay 2-3 times that of a Mamiya. For a 35mm type dSLR, Nikon just introduce the D3X with 24.5 megapixals. The body alone runs anywhere from $6,500-$8000 US.

Mamyia ZD flashing busy

It happened to me last year in July 2008. All the images were wiped off the card.
I was told by Robert White cameras in Poole, Dorset, England from where I bought the camera that it was a card problem. With the card connected to your Mac by a reader, go to Apps, Utilities folder, Disc Utility. Select the card from the menu on the left. Select Erase and then choose how many times you want to erase. This will take a few minutes but will clean the card. Never use a card from another camera. Just use cards for use in the ZD only.
I have not had the problem since.
Cheers, Tony
