A screen saver is an executable file (scr) and it could also be a script meant to do your computer harm or steal your information. I would give this one up, it was probably something bad... be thankfull your system has protection in force!
Right click on your desktop, and click "Personalize." The window that comes up will allow you to change all aspects of your computer's theme, including the background and screen saver. All you need to do to change the background is select a picture(s) that you want, and save the changes.

N~ 1.SCR looks like a truncaked screen saver name (when a name is longer then 8 characters, it comes up with the ~) the .scr is a screen saver extension.
Just as something to try, disable any and all screen savers you have running and see it the error stops.
