The front light lit on my Whirlpool dryer is showing control locked

Hi.

If the front light lit is control locked, that means that your Whirlpool electric dryer had been set in control lock mode.

Control lock is a special mode that will prevent user from changing settings or using control until the dryer gets unlocked again.

The machine is set to control lock mode by holding down the CONTROL LOCK/UNLOCK button for several seconds. In the same way you can stop the control lock mode when the machine is already set to Control Lock.

When the dryer is running and Control Locked is on, the dryer can still be stopped by pressing the Pause/Cancel button, but cannot be restarted until the control is unlocked.

If the front light lit is control locked but the dryer door opens and it does not turn off, then you are probably in this situation. In that case, the door will be opening , but the machine still stays locked.

Disconnecting the machine from power, either unplugging power cord or tripping circuit breaker, won't help. The control lock system is designed to stay on in case of power failure.
If the machine is control locked, try unlocking it with the following procedure.

To unlock: Press and hold the CONTROL LOCK/UNLOCK button for 3 to 5 seconds to turn the control lock feature off.

If that does not work, try disconnecting power for five minutes to reset the machine, and eventually do unlock again. As said, cutting power alone will not cause the machine to unlock.

If the machine is still not responding, the lights stay on all the time, the dryer panel does not respond to control unlock procedure, and the door does not lock anymore, then it may be a defective control board.

If you are in this situation, before replacing the control board more parts, including the door lock must be tested. In that case the best option may be contacting the Whirlpool support number listed on the Dryer use and care manual, usually in the last pages.

In this case try resetting control lock as explained above, as told the dryer is more likely control locked and then stopped.

Regards.

Ginko.

What does the sign "control lock" mean?

Here is what the manual for your oven says about control lock.

Let me know if you have questions.

Control Lock
The Control Lock shuts down the control panel pads to prevent
unintended use of the oven(s). The Control Lock will remain set
after a power failure, if set before the power failure. The only time
it is not available is during the Sabbath Mode or Self-Clean cycle.
When the control is locked, only the TIMER SET · START, TIMER
CANCEL, OVEN LIGHT and CANCEL OFF, UPPER OVEN
CANCEL / OFF or LOWER OVEN CANCEL / OFF pads will
function. On double oven models, CLOCK SET · START will also
function.
The Control Lock is preset unlocked, but can be locked.
To Lock/Unlock Control: Press and hold CONTROL LOCK for
about 3 seconds, until “CONTROL LOCK” and a picture of a lock
appear on the display. Repeat to unlock and remove “CONTROL
LOCK” from the display.

Washer wont start it has a control panel lock tried to power it off no help

The Control Lock is a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. You also cannot clear it by unplugging the appliance. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, or by leaning against the control panel and is usually not an indication of a washer malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool Duet series, the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Control locked

On some front loading washer there is a button that when held for 3 to 5 seconds will lock the control panel so young children can't change settings. Look at your control panel for writing under a button that will tell you to hold down to lock or unlock panel.

to PR manager of your MI service company My name is Phil Baranov, I write for the Russian-language paper issues and on-line- resources on the themes of musical technologies, musical tools, DJ-equipment, pro-audio and show business. Possibly you know already, that since July this year Russia entered the force the new customs rules, which allow for those living in Russia to purchase goods and services from abroad in the larger measure (less VAT, more weight etc.). According to this we have the increased interest in the possibilities of the service of electronic musical tools outside the Russia. Could you be so kind to give to me the interview (via email, ICQ or so) distantly on the standards prices, accepted in your company by after-warranty reparations of electronic musical gear, diagnostics, periods, accepted online pay procedures, the most typical reparation conditions, etc. It was obtained the reputation of the history of the sufficiently long and expensive post-guaranties repair of synthesizers, studio, music computer-related and DJ-gear In the Russian-language sector of the Internet. I would like to describe to our readers, as it proceeds with this in the entire remaining world. Could you answer some questions about your company, it's qualified personnel, business processes, standards of maintenance, accepted prices and brands, etc. Inform me your decision anyway, please.
